| |||
TL;DR Last court of current coronet; New Coronets elevated; Fighting happened; Learning happened; Money raised for two great Vinheim causes; Event staff awesome!!!
| |||
| |||
As Co-Steward for this Coronet event I was but one small part of this event. And before you go giving me more than in my due, I will say what I said in their Majesties morning court.
| |||
| |||
I may be the loud mouth before you with more time in and "greater seniority" but the person who did over 90% of the work to make Coronet happen [so successfully] was/is Chu Fu (lady) Hu Zhen.
| |||
| |||
It was Hu Zhen, who put in the work to scour the area for a suitable site. It was Hu Zhen who spoke with the various owners and managers of site and worked out prices and navigated their bureaucracy. It was Hu Zhen who dealt with the contract. I went to site once and spoke with the manager. Hu Zhen did all the rest.
| |||
| |||
It was Hu Zhen who recruited people to the various jobs that we needed done on site. Sure I and others in the Proposed Canton Of Oak Spring would give suggestions but Hu Zhen did the "leg work". The reaching out. The networking. And it is Hu Zhen who deserves the vast majority of the credit. Please give Hu Zhen your thanks and well dones. She earned them far more than I.
| |||
| |||
All that said we have so many more people to thank for the success of this event. No matter how good the Steward of an event, they (we) are nothing without their crew of people known and unknown who stepped in and did the work and made the even a success.
| |||
| |||
First, my thanks to Their Majesties of Ansteorra, our Fair Queen Margherita de Mantua IV and our Fierce King Jason Drysdale IV. Their Royal Presence makes all events happier, brighter and better!
| |||
| |||
To (now) Viscount [[Uriangqadai Cinoajin], for Holding the Coronet Tournament and trusting us to properly host His Coronet Tournament.
| |||
| |||
Also, Grateful Thanks to her Royal Highness Wu Yen of Northshield for travelling so far and not just coming to our event but actively participating in it. For those that do not know, Princess Wu Yen, traded peaceful blows with fighters in Coronet Tournament as a By fighter. I understand Her Highness also traded peaceful blows in pick-up fights run by His Royal Majesty Jason IV. Rumor has it she is truly deadly but especially so with a glaive.
| |||
| |||
Their Excellencies of Namron, Baroness Emma O'Ruairc and Baronessa Isabella Coppola. the support and enthusiasm expressed and given from Their Excellencies knew no bounds. They kept us on schedule with gentle reminders, gave helpful suggestions, set up and ran the website not to mention this facebook event! May thanks and much admiration to you and for you!
| |||
| |||
The fighters. Site seemed large, but was truly more medium. Due to this we taped out the fighting area, a safety zone and places for all the fighters to have reserved space. With but one exception all fighters were happy to comply with keeping their equipment in their taped out squares. Chairs etc were fine to "spread" out some but site has specific rules we needed to follow. And keeping equipment in the tape was the easiest and best way for us to achieve those requirements.
| |||
| |||
ALSO, the fighters! How great were they?! Good fights. Hard fights. Fun fights! All the fights. Fighters truly are the focus of any Coronet tournament and they did not disappoint. They looked great and fought very well! Thank you!
| |||
| |||
LIST MISTRESSES!!! Oh my gosh the List Mistresses! Have you ever tried to keep fighters in line focused on who they are fighting and when? Trying to herd seagulls can be easier. No disrespect awesome fighters but you know I'm not wrong on that. Unfortunately, I was given their names but once and my teflon memory for names let their name escape.
| |||
| |||
Marshals! Even they listen to the List Mistresses. How wonderful were the marshals?! Keeping our fighters safe. Keeping our populace save and keeping our site safe! Many thanks to the many marshals were were there and doing the hard work!
Alright, now none of this can happen without the event staff. Our HUGE thanks to our event staff. Without YOU the event could not possibly have been the huge success it was Water Bearing - Fiadh MacMhearain, was our Head of Water bearing. Can you believe this was her SECOND event ever? She was so conscientious of her job and did such a terrific job. Aesa of the Hills helped along with sundry children who delivered food around to people all day long. So important and well take was their work that water bearing was the ONLY thing left standing from the event during evening court. People were STILL using it!
| |||
| |||
Work Crew - Two vigils came in and Our set-up crew were happy to support them as needed. Though to be honest the vigil crews did well on their own and in turn came and helped us with set-up as well.

| |||
Though all worked hard two were extraordinary! Mongobeki Checheg and Trevin Riel. These two were above and beyond amazing. Mongo (the short version name) was on site before either event steward. She commuted almost an hour both ways and we stewards live in town. Talk about a good start! Mongo helped open the building and get the lights turned on. Stepped right up for doing taping. Which is back pain inducing work. Nonetheless Mongo stepped up and eventually took over taping out areas on the floor. Trevin Riel arrived as soon as his work allowed him to leave and jumped right in helping Mongo with the tape. His attitude has always been, "This is just what you do. What else can I do for you?" Plus setting up chairs and tables as needed.
| |||
| |||
Then on the Day of Coronet both worked hard during the event. Mongobeki Checheg heralded for the tournament, cleaned things and helped tear up the tape that she had worked so hard putting down the previous night. Trevin Riel checked in many times and was happy to be sent to any little or big thing that needed to be done.
| |||
| |||
Gate: I talked to Gate four times. Three times to check if they needed anything and once to find our numbers while official paperwork had to be signed. They did their job amazingly well. Thank you all so much! (No, I don't know names. I'm so sorry.)
Voice Herald: Ivo Blackhawk extraordinary indeed. Thank you for checking in on what was needed to be announced and doing the job tirelessly and exceptionally.
| |||
| |||
WEST ROOM aka A&S ROOM aka... : Isa Mikjalsdottir, its all her fault. I mean responsibility. She volunteered to coordinate classes (I found out later she was stewarding another event at the time) and recruited people to that task. Now I don't know who did what or how or when, but I do know Isa was the one with the plan and basically made that room her own little fiefdom. She put things where they would go, she created the signage telling you where to go for whatever activity you wanted. And this included Sanctuary/Quiet Room.
Sanctuary: Wonderful place and dedicated people set it up and ran it. Stephanie Ilaoa made a long post about running it. We were glad to give all the space we could to it. I understand that 10% of people on site USED the sanctuary. Truly proof that 1) it is needed and 2) it was done very well by those who who ran it.
| |||
| |||
Silent Auction: I gave them three tables for the auction. But that wasn't enough by half. By the end of the day I understand they had 7 tables of donated items. With over 1k raised for the rapier community in Vindheim!
| |||
| |||
Bake Sale. Over $150 raised through the sale of donated items and just flat donations. Thank you Andreas Bernay for coming up with the idea and running it. All proceeds went to helping the Santuary!
| |||
| |||
Dead Parrot Tavern: A lovely sideboard lunch with more than we could eat. They even donated the left overs to those in need. Delicious wonderful and filling!
| |||
| |||
Children's Activities: I had to walk through children's activities more than once. They were having too much fun not to! The Coordinator brought wonderful activities and... again, I'm terrible with names.
| |||
| |||
Clean Up! Everyone? Like everyone who attended. Yeah, it seemed like darn near everyone helped pull up tape, put away chairs and tables, spot cleaned etc. Again, Mongobeki Checheg was a super star even working to "negative spoons" and really pushing herself. She was absolutely amazing. So was Hroswitha von Lippe, Andreas Bernay, A gentle whose name I never got, took the dust mop from me and finished the job. Ivo mopped, Dead Parrot Tavern completely cleaned, swept and mopped their Kitchen and emptied their trash. People emptied trash cans, cleaned bathrooms, picked up signage and so much more.
| |||
| |||
Thank you everyone.
| |||
YOU are the ones who made the even wonderful. YOU are the ones that made the event run smoothly.
| |||

===From Havaar Ericsson===
We are back in Texas after a great Coronet Tourney for Vindheim. To start Macauley Morisson and Caterina Giovanni, at my first Vindheim event you were the most welcoming Prince and Princess ever. Your hospitality combined with others made me make the decision to go to at least 2-3 Vindheim events a year. As you take this mantle again should you need any support from this Southern MoD I will be there. Vivat Prince!! Vivat Princess!!

| |||
The day was very interesting for me especially in the evening court. Throughout the day I got to talk to many friends that I don't see often enough. That was a refreshing and needed thing. I ended up quasi-running His Highness' Prince's Champion Tourney and saw some amazing combat. Seeing HG JP having the energy of a 19 year old inspired me to jump into the lists on the Rapier side, seeing a young newer fighter ( @Tiny Dog?) score an amazing shot on a seasoned Duke, and so much more awesomeness in a 15 minute time slot.

| |||
Jumping into the Princess Champion Tourney was a last minute decision. I somehow still helped get it running but I also decided to test my body to see if I could do it. Man, did I! I felt good fighting for the first time in a while. I stepped out with a minute or so left so the fighters that could win would have a chance to score more points. My big Cadet Brother Jacques Ball won the day and will do a fantastic job of once again serving as Princess Caterina's Champion.

| |||
Two especially great moments happened in court. First, my dear friend Darian De Shameless officially joined the Order of Defense. Welcome Brother. Remember, give yourself Grace.

| |||
After that my friend Bo Hendricks was elevated to the Order of Chivalry. A much well deserved elevation. It was the first time that I was asked to speak as a Master of Defense for an elevation. Since he asked me, I probably made 6 rough drafts of what I would say about this man. None of them seemed enough. I knew what I wanted to get across and I decided that I would speak directly from my heart. I think it went well. Thank you Brother for allowing me to speak for you. As I told Darien, give yourself Grace. We are Peers not perfect. We will mess up from time to time. We will say the wrong thing, miss a shot we should have called, make bad decisions, but always give ourselves Grace. Don't let a bad thing define you. Have humility and learn from those moments. I love you Brother.

| |||
Ended the day getting food with Bill Perkins, Lisa Perkins, Jack Day, Emily DeWitt, little Phoenix, and Jacques. Great food was made better by wonderful conversation.

| |||
Got back to the hotel and had a little family time with Eli and MaKayla Morris in the pool and a movie. Today we are hitting the Children's Aquarium in Dallas on the way home.

| |||
On a side note, I know many may have seen me limping especially after the tournament. I have been having issues with my plantar fasciitis especially in my right foot. I did get a cane today to help with my mobility. I have been having a few other issues as well and am doing a walk in tomorrow with my PCP. I am determined to get in better shape to reduce the load on my joints and stay fighting for as long as possible. That being said I do better with a goal in mind so I may start exploring the possibility of getting serious with Chivalric fighting and Knighthood. I have concerns so I may reach out to some people to talk.

| |||

As Co-Steward for this Coronet event I was but one small part of this event. And before you go giving me more than in my due, I will say what I said in their Majesties morning court.
I may be the loud mouth before you with more time in and "greater seniority" but the person who did over 90% of the work to make Coronet happen [so successfully] was/is Chu Fu (lady) Hu Zhen.

It was Hu Zhen who recruited people to the various jobs that we needed done on site. Sure I and others in the Proposed Canton Of Oak Spring would give suggestions but Hu Zhen did the "leg work". My big Cadet Brother Jacques Ball won the day and will do a fantastic job of once again serving as Princess Caterina's Champion.
Two especially great moments happened in court. First, my dear friend Darian De Shameless officially joined the Order of Defense. Welcome Brother. Remember, give yourself Grace.
Ended the day getting food with Bill Perkins, Lisa Perkins, Jack Day, Emily DeWitt, little Phoenix, and Jacques. Great food was made better by wonderful conversation.
Got back to the hotel and had a little family time with Eli and MaKayla Morris in the pool and a movie. Today we are hitting the Children's Aquarium in Dallas on the way home.
