Kingdom of Ansteorra

Ansteorra is a Kingdom in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and consists of the states of Oklahoma and Texas except for those portions of Texas that reside in the Mountain Time Zone.

History of Our Beloved Kingdom

The lands of Ansteorra were once part of the Kingdom of Atenveldt. The first events in what was to become Ansteorra were in 1972 in Stargate, (Houston, TX) and 1973 in the Steppes (Dallas, TX). In 1977 Ansteorra became a Principality and became a Kingdom in its own right in 1979.

The Name

The name, "Ansteora" (note, back then it only had one "R") was one of three that had been proposed. The others were Gilonade and Terebinthia. Ansteora comes from Anglo Saxon, and means "One (or Only) Star." This name was proposed by Aurieliannae Rioghail.
