The Legends Luncheon was an effort by the Ansteorra Wiki to celebrate the efforts of those who have been a part of Ansteorra for more than twenty years. It was hosted at the Ansteorra 40th Anniversary event, held in September 2019, at Will Rogers Boy Scout Camp. The goal was a graceful, relaxed environment in which those who had been a part of the Kingdom for decades could take sustenance and be entertained and appreciated.

Invitation

“Greetings, Ansteorra!

Did you begin participating in the SCA when Ansteorra was still under the banner of Atenveldt? Do you remember the days of Principality? Did you start your Ansteorra Adventure prior to 1994? Then this message is for you.

The Ansteorra History Wiki would like to show honor to our “Living Legends” and is sponsoring a luncheon at 40th Year on Friday the 20th from 11:30 – 12:30, specifically for you. Reservations are limited to the first 40 people to register. Please only register if you are firm in your plans for 40th Year attendance.

This will be a time to reconnect and catch up with friends, and share your stories and anecdotes of decades past, while savoring a delicious meal and tempting desserts. Entertainment will be provided.

The current menu (while subject to change due to ingredient availability) includes:
- First Course: Tabouli served with pita, and a fruit and cheese plate.
- Second Course: Bacon and cheese quiche with herbs, and a garden salad with or without chicken as is your pleasure (Please note that due to the expected heat of the day, the quiche will be served chilled, rather than hot.)
- Third Course: Assorted pastries and confections. Please note some desserts may contain trace amounts of alcohol.

This luncheon is free of charge to attendees (it has been sponsored by private donations; no Kingdom funds are being used.) If attending, please bring your feast gear.

To register, please email your mundane name, year you began participating in what is now the Kingdom of Ansteorra, SCA name, and the most formal set of titles for introductions, along with any major dietary restrictions, to LegendsLunch@gmail.com. Reservations should be received no later than September 6th. Should you have any additional questions regarding the event itself, please feel free to contact me privately."

Populace Provided Information

Margaret ny Connor

(Then Queen of Ansteorra)
"I was hoping to make it, but I had duties that ran long and then a meeting to be in. :( But I heard only wonderful reports!"

Etienne de Montagu

"It was very odd for Bia and me feeling like the youngest couple in the room."

Annabelle Fitzsimmons

"We (Aonghas Gallogloch and myself) were there, and the biggest thing for us was seeing how many were there and enjoying the company."

Ayesha de Warwick

"In the middle of all the activities going on it, was a little bit of peace and quiet and just enjoyment to sit and relax at a luncheon. The people in the room were amazing and there was lots of going back and forth to visit old friends. And then Baron Andrew Turnbull and Baron Donnchadh Beag mac Griogair sang a song and the entertainment was wonderful. The food was very impressive and yummy. We were all especially grateful to the people who put this on. The food was so good! There were leftovers. I took some of the sweets to share with other people because they were so sweet and so plentiful that many other people could also enjoy - and they did.

Elric Dracwin

Dominique and I were there as guests. It was a wonderful opportunity to relax from the busy schedule and socialize. The meal was delicious and plentiful and served at a good pace. The performers were entertaining and their scheduling allowed for plenty of time to visit. The hall was filled with people who have enriched our lives in uncountable ways. Legends like two of the earliest Lions who came into my work in 1980 and were my first exposure to the SCA. Legends I have had the honor to stand as their champion or guard. And other Legends who I have more recently (less than 25 years) befriended. It felt like a family reunion.
