Event Details

The Accademia was a one day learning intensive on Rapier and Cut & Thrust. It boasted teachers from all corners of Ansteorra and guest lecturers from other kingdoms as well. It also hosted the Rapier and Cut & Thrust Championships for our 6th Vindheim Coronet.

Combat Format

Rapier Champion Tournament:

Eligibility: All Ansteorran fencers are invited to participate; however, only residents of Vindheim or holders of the Sanguine Bowl can claim victory.
Pre-Registration: ALL Entrants must preregister for the tournament. Tournament Preregistration can be found here: TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION (Link)
Weapons: All standard Ansteorran Rapier Weapons with required armor and current authorization.

Tournament Format:

  • Initial Rounds (Shotgun-Style Single Elimination):
    • Pairings for each round will be announced
    • Bye’s will not be fought (non-destructive)
    • All pairings of fighters will find a marshal and complete their fights in any available space.
    • The winner must return the pairing cards to the Lyst Coordinator
    • These rounds will proceed rapidly to accommodate the early schedule and limited time.
    • Only Winners will proceed to the next round (Single Elimination) BUT Residence of Vindheim should be prepared to compete in the Quarter Finals.
  • Advancement to Top 8 (Quarter/Semi Finals):
    • After the initial rounds, the top 8 fighters from Vindheim and/or holder of the Sanguine Bowl will be selected based on their performance.
    • Only Winners will advance each round (Single Elimination)
    • From the Quarter Finals forward, each pairing will be fought best 2 out of 3
    • From the Quarter Finals forward, each pairing will be fought on the lyst field.
  • Finals:
    • The final match will also be best 2 out of 3.


Cut & Thrust Champion Tournament:

  • Participation:
    • Eligibility: All Ansteorran fencers are invited to participate; however, only residents of Vindheim or holders of the Sanguine Bowl can claim victory.

    • Weapons: All standard Ansteorran C&T Weapons with required armor and current authorization.

    • Marshals: There will be marshals available to oversee all fights and ensure safety and adherence to rules.

    • Note: Armor inspection begins at 8:00am on 17 August 2024. Please ensure timely arrival and readiness to begin promptly at 8:30 AM. This will help us conduct the tournament smoothly and ensure everyone has a fair chance to participate.
