Jul 25, 2018: Greetings to the Kingdom as Prince & Princess

(Taken from the Ansteorra Kingdom Email list)

Greetings Fair Kingdom,

It is with great joy that we write to you, for good fortune has smiled upon us and we have become the heirs of Ansteorra again. Crown tournament was hot and dusty and a bit of a shock to our systems after being in the great white north for most of the previous 2 weeks.

As anyone who has been to crown tournament can attest, especially ones outside in Ansteorran summer, just fighting in the tournament is a team event. Not one person wins alone. It is with the help of friends that we keep from completely sweltering in the heat. They give us food & water, shade, and cold wet towels. It’s almost like watching Nascar in slow-motion. They are our pit crews and our cheering squads and (in summer) literally help keep us alive. Therefore, we would like to thank some of the folks who helped us to win the day: Mistress Colleen, honorable lady Sylvana, Centurion Absolon, Countess Nicolette, and of course my faithful squire, Lord Frederick! Thank you all! And thanks to all of the other squads that kept your fighters as cool and as focused as possible that day!

We look forward to seeing old friends and making many new ones this reign! If you want to get involved and see how the kingdom runs from the perspective of the crown when we are in your area, please talk with Mistress Colleen.

It’s been 14 years since last we set the thrones, so we might be a bit rusty, but we promise to brush-off the rust and oil the machine of fun for our upcoming reign. Of course we are going to stick with the key traditions that make our kingdom special and unique, but as before, we will likely add a bit of our own flair. There may be a bit of theatre and even more song and other bard craft. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do!

Be kind to others. Let’s not hate, let’s celebrate!
