King's Gauntlet
Notes: Master Robin of Gilwell has stated that "In the reign of Lloyd and Joselyn, Lady Gwenllian Cwmystwyth ferch Morfudd, called the Fiery (but not very often) made the first decorated pillows before the thrones, and the first clothes with the arms of the King and Queen. [The King's costume fit the next king too, so King Jan w Orzeldom wore it as well.] She received the only Gauntlet given out that reign. I have no idea who made it, or even if there was an object given."
His Grace, Lloyd von Eaker adds that the gauntlet that Gwenllian received was made by his own hand, and the embroidery was the work of his Lady, Joselyn Allyne Reynard. We made it a point of always having an item to give out whenever we gave out an award. Gauntlets were rare, and hard to come by, hard to figure out how to make one. The difference between now and then is simply incredible. The massive amount of things that you can simply get off the shelf that is SCA related is wonderful."

Master Robin of Gilwell
When Lloyd was our second king, he was a Master of Arms. Since "only a knight can make a knight," when he was planning to elevate a knight, I, a young herald, asked which knight he was going to use. He replied, "All of them." In court, he called up all the knights, and said, "Is your Order complete?" That was the first use of that question in Ansteorra. Its purpose was that they had helped him to make a knight.
