The Founding:
House Wolfstar was founded in September of 1982, at a Grateful Dead concert. (1) The original six members were:
Heraldry:
The House Badge was registered by Daniel Blackaxe in 1986: Sable, a wolf's head caboshed Or within an orle of eight compass stars argent.
The House Leadership
It is current tradition that the Heads of Household (there are two, one in the North and one in the South) are male. This tradition is a point of contention among female members, who point out that natural wolf packs have a male and female leader.
Alphas
The current Alphas (As of October 2012) of the House are:
- Northern -- Co-Alphas: Ainar Magnusson & Thorvald Egilsson.
- Southern -- Roland
Members:
House Wolfstar claims members in every Kingdom of the Known World, but its primary membership resides in the Kingdom of Ansteorra. It contains members from every level of experience within the Society, from Royalty to relative newcomers.

Whelps
All individuals petitioning for membership must be sponsored by an existing full member. Petitioning members are referred to as Whelps and they receive mentorship from their sponsor. The trial period can last anywhere from two months to ten years.
Stars:
Full-fledged members of the household are known as Stars.
Rogue Wolves
Those individuals who have served as an Alpha in the past are known as Rogue Wolves.
The Order of the Silver Wolf:
Within the Household, there are 8 members, at any one time, of the Order of the Silver Wolf. This is restricted to full-fledged members who are female.
The Order of the Golden Wolf:
Within the Household, there are 8 members, at any one time, of the Order of the Silver Wolf. This is restricted to full-fledged members who are male.

The Order of the Wolf Track:
The Wolf Track are those Wolves who lead the way for others, taking their own paths, and blazing trails for others to follow. Their focus is the arts and service. Anastacia Marie Traverra was the first named to this order.

There are no rules.
Traditions:
- Most members wear a belt-favor of a wolf's head with a single compass star.
- Stars that distinguish themselves in the art of war/combat may be recognized with a Gold Fang.
- Whelps that distinguish themselves in the art of war/combat may be recognized with a Silver Fang.
The Company of Wolves
In 2001, the first Company of Wolves event was held. This is an unofficial event, but is listed on the Ansteorran Event Calendar. At Company of Wolves (CoW), a variety of championship tournaments are held, including:
- TOP DOG: Heavy Combat Champion
- TOP DOG LITE: LIght Weapons Champion
- Middle Eastern Drumming
- Middle Eastern Dancing
- Brewing Champion
- Bardic Champion
Trivia:
- House Wolfstar has been the subject of many a song, including House Wolfstar (Sung to the tune of 'House of the Rising Sun'), filked by Hord.
- The House has an Official Drink: Wolfsfire. Ingredients are described as being a 'closely guarded secret' but were Googled as being "Apple juice, Everclear, and just enough Cranberry juice to make it look like gasoline."
