Frú Kolfinna Egilsdóttir hails from Norway. As a young woman, she met a dashing salt merchant, Lord Yancy Alfsson, who promised her adventure on the high seas, stirring primal memories of her ancestors. Alas, her sailing was cut short in 1368, after spending time in France. They both loved the area and the location was ideal for his trade endeavors. Kolfinna settled in, learning the local language, growing an abundant garden, and wandering the countryside while her beloved engages in seafaring acquisitions for the Crown and plies his salts around the world. He brings her many luxurious gifts and exotic clothing from faraway kingdoms, which she wears enthusiastically, if not authentically. But her favorite thing to wear is historical clothing from Viking Age Scandinavia, which she frequently dons for attending soirees, much to the chagrin of the French nobility. Ah, Kolfinna. What an odd duck you are.

One time, I was hanging out with Kolfinna. All of the sudden, she looks up in to the sky and yells “Why oh why?” I asked her what she was talking about, and she said “I just want to know why the chicken crossed the road!” I looked at her, she looked at me, and we continued walking down the road. What an odd duck she is.

Kolfinna supports the dream in everyone, whatever their specific interests. She is wise in the ways she suggests you not pressure yourself to partake of sub-hobbies that don't turn out to be fun for you. She is also willing to do the work when work needs to be done. The SCA is better for having her in it. She is one of the most truly authentic people I have had the pleasure to know.
