| "Just as performance arts tend to be very public, there are artists who use art in a far more private way in order to benefit everyone around them. These are the people we rely on to be an endless source of all-the-things in terms of artistry. Whether they're the scribal teams who spend hundreds of hours making sure we have amazing scrolls to commemorate events, or whether they're the woodworkers who build things, or the bannermakers, or the jewelers and metalsmiths, or the people who generously open their homes and lend their skill to make sure everyone is well-dressed, or the armorers whose workshops are always open--- these are the people who serve via their art."

| "This order is our friendship award, recognizing those who do not currently reside within our zip codes, but whose love, dedication, and service make them truly one of us in spirit. This recognizes the depth of that service, extending the bowl of friendship and inviting them to be part of our Vindheim family. It comes with certain privileges connected to it--- giving them the right to have their voices heard when the Vindheim populace is polled on their opinions, as well as allowing them the right to compete for ceremonial championships. Because it comes with some very special privileges, this one is restricted to a maximum of two new members per Coronet reign."

| "So often, when members of the populace are recognized for their accomplishments, it is a matter of, "Word has reached us that..." or "We have been told..." For the Crimson Firebolt, this is an award commemorative of a martial event of excellence that the Coronet has personally witnessed. "Earlier today, I saw..." It might be an individual performing at a level that is beyond their actual skill. It might be a mighty deed that changed the course of events. It might be an amazing moment at War. Whatever it is--- it's unexpected and unpredictable and sudden, like a bolt of lightning out of the sky, but is worthy of being honored and recognized."

| "If you know about bees, you understand that a honey bee's lifespan is only a month or two. When bees are collecting nectar in the spring, it's for the benefit of future generations of bees that don't yet exist, and they will never see. With a youth order, we wanted to evoke that feeling of the passage of time. The youth of Vindheim who excel as minors, even despite the limitations of their age and circumstances--- we expect them to continue to excel as they grow into their majority. With an order, you are admitted once... but even though only youth are admitted, you never age out. It is fully our expectation that, someday, during court, when the newest member is welcomed into the Order, everyone will be able to look around and realize that amongst the Knights and the MODs, the Laurels and the Pelicans, the Landeds and perhaps even the Crown or the Coronet at the time... that amongst their ranks are so many members of the Order of the Golden Comb of Vindheim welcoming a new youth with the promise of the future into their midst."

| "As you are aware, the Territorial Princesses of Ansteorra were granted membership in Atenveldt's Order of the Dove after successfully completing their time as Territorial Princess and becoming Viscountesses. The Order was closed in Ansteorra when we became a Kingdom. <BR><BR>
Now that Ansteorra has its own Principality, it was important to us to draw awareness to those roots and tap into that continuity. However, the Doves belonged to Atenveldt. The Order had been closed and we weren't able to adopt or resurrect it. Instead, Vindheim's order for its Viscountesses (former Consorts) is the Order of the Dove of Vindheim.<BR><BR>
The badge for this order is: a panache of five feathers, or, gules, or, sable, and or, emergent from a coronet of twelve lobes.<BR><BR>
The feathers are the Viscountesses. We look forward to the day when Vindheim is full of amazing, capable people who have served Vindheim as its Territorial Princess. (Or otherwise been a Consort.)<BR><BR>
You might expect the feathers for a "golden dove" to be all gold. The feathers are not all homogeneous, but they are all in Vindheim's colors. Each of the members will have served Vindheim and will continue to serve Vindheim, each in their own way, bringing their own strengths to the table.<BR><BR>
A panache of feathers is a unified group, just as we expect the Doves to accomplish more for Vindheim as a cohesive group than they could as isolated individuals. And they're surrounded by a Viscounty coronet, calling to mind that they have each faithfully served the Principality.<BR><BR>
Right now, the Order is empty. As the Order grows, I look forward to seeing how the theme develops and traditions evolve. But even more so-- I look forward to seeing the Order itself develop into another group of amazing people who love the Principality and work tirelessly for its good." <BR>

| "At the most recent melee event in the Barony of Bordermarch, we unveiled three new awards focused around the Vindheim Army. We continued with the three aspects of the SCA theme as well as the color theme that has thus far permeated the Vindheim awards."<BR><BR>
When considering awards for an army, we wanted to make sure that all aspects of the SCA were recognized for the parts they play in the war effort. Statistics show that only 1 in 10 attendees at an event are there for marshallate only endeavors. While marshallate activities can be a big draw at demos, it is the other aspects of the SCA which keep people returning and keep events running smoothly. Non-martial participants at war-type events are often overlooked and unrecognized for their efforts in aiding the war effort.<BR><BR>
The Vindheim Companies are not reserved only to those who fight. Just as infantry and cavalry needed the support of those in logistics, engineering corps, signals, cooks, the War College, and many other non-combat roles, Vindheim’s military is enabled and placed in a position to succeed by such. But all are part of the same military, the same army, and on the same side.<BR><BR>
Whether combat, non-combat, or figurative combat (competitions), when citizens of Vindheim go beyond “doing” and step up to “representing” and further to representing well, beyond the borders of Vindheim, then they have stepped beyond the ordinary and normal expectations of what they are doing to perform the extraordinary and special.<BR><BR>
To be clear, anyone can take up the colors and ensigns of Vindheim and fight for, declare allegiance to, and represent the principality. A person does not have to earn recognition in a Company to fight for or represent Vindheim or to be in any mustered army of Vindheim.
From among Vindheim’s citizens who go beyond doing and take on the burden of representing Vindheim well in foreign lands, who increase the recognition or improve upon the reputation of Vindheim, while fighting, competing, teaching, performing or serving, then at the pleasure of the Vindheim Coronets recognitions in these Companies can be extended.<BR><BR>
At its inception, the Vindheim Army will have three companies. There has been talk since [[War of the Rams]] of them being described as Special Forces or Expeditionary Forces of the Vindheim Army. Hopefully future Coronets and creative peoples can develop or maturate the names, but for now they will be the Sanguine (blood red) Company for the martial aspect of the army, the Sinople (green) Company for the art aspect of the army, and the Tenne (tawny orange) Company for the service aspect of the army.<BR><BR>
Each company will have different categories for which a member can be awarded or recognized, the same as the structure for Ansteorra's Sable Talon. A person can be a member of the Sanguine Company for any or all of these reasons: Armoured Combat, Rapier Combat, Steel Combat, Combat Archery, Target Archery, Siege, Thrown Weapons, Youth Rapier Combat, Youth Armoured Combat, and Equestrian Deeds of Arms.<BR><BR>
Which brings us to insignia. The Companies of Vindheim are all about horses. Her Sanguine Highness Gilyan has released the badge she has been holding for the principality efforts for many years to the principality. It is our hope that the red horse and gold star badge will be incorporated into insignia for the Companies. Again, we have more ideas about this but simply ran out of time.

The Sinople Company was a bit more difficult to define categories, but with the assistance of the Sable Thistles and an excellent data analyst we have the following: Fiber Arts, Culinary Arts, Performance Arts, Household Arts, Metallurgy/Metalwork (Metal Arts?), Research, Tangible Heraldry, and Husbandry.<BR><BR>

The Tenne Company was even more difficult to define categories for since there is no distinction in any of the common award systems. But, here are our current best ideas: The Award may be given to an individual more than once, but only once for a particular type of service, as listed:
1) Group Management (people who take care of others, camp coordinators, sammich makers, land coordinators, etc.); 2) Event Administration (people who take on a staff role at a war - marshal in charge, royal liaison, sanitation, event steward, etc.); 3) Infrastructure (people who set up/tear down at the event, set up pavilions, move hay, etc.); 4) General Assistance (people who are genuine helpers to everyone); and 5) Event Operations (people who volunteer at events - gate shift, sanitation, mobility golf carts, etc.).

Red Bowl of Vindheim, Order o/t Romanius & Deanna / Jean Paul & Gilyan April 16, 2022 / October 29, 2022 "This order is our friendship award, recognizing those who do not currently reside within our zip codes, but whose love, dedication, and service make them truly one of us in spirit. Thunderbolt of Vindheim, Award o/t Romanius & Deanna / Jean Paul & Gilyan April 30, 2022 / 2022 "So often, when members of the populace are recognized for their accomplishments, it is a matter of, "Word has reached us that..." or "We have been told..." For the Crimson Firebolt, this is an award commemorative of a martial event of excellence that the Coronet has personally witnessed.

Revised - to encompass ANY phenomenal deed whether martial, arts, service, etc. There shall exist in Vindheim a non-armigerous award which shall be given by the Vindheim Coronet(s) unto such persons who have distinguished themselves to the Coronet in an extraordinary fashion. The candidate should show an example of phenomenal prowess, extraordinary artistry, or remarkable service.

Bastion of Vindheim, Order o/t Romanius & Deanna April 30, 2022 "As you know, a bastion is a part of a fortification that helps strengthen a defensive wall. The members of the Order are pillars of Vindheim. If they were to be absent, the Principality would be left with a huge void. The Coronet may appoint no more than one member per reign. Membership in the Order comes with a task: to continue to work together for the betterment of the Principality. Their grass roots involvement and experience allows them to give informed counsel to the Coronet. The continuity of their presence and efforts helps keep the Principality healthy at the local level." Charles the Grey of Mooneschadowe
Golden Comb of Vindheim, Order o/t Romanius & Deanna April 30, 2022 "If you know about bees, you understand that a honey bee's lifespan is only a month or two. Dove of Vindheim, Order o/t Romanius & Deanna / Jean Paul & Gilyan Announced May 13, 2022 "As you are aware, the Territorial Princesses of Ansteorra were granted membership in Atenveldt's Order of the Dove after successfully completing their time as Territorial Princess and becoming Viscountesses. The badge for this order is: a panache of five feathers, or, gules, or, sable, and or, emergent from a coronet of twelve lobes.

The feathers are the Viscountesses. We look forward to the day when Vindheim is full of amazing, capable people who have served Vindheim as its Territorial Princess. (Or otherwise been a Consort.)

Company of the Sanguine Warhorse of Vindheim Jean Paul & Gilyan October 29, 2022 / Name registered 07-2024 "At the most recent melee event in the Barony of Bordermarch, we unveiled three new awards focused around the Vindheim Army. We continued with the three aspects of the SCA theme as well as the color theme that has thus far permeated the Vindheim awards."

Non-martial participants at war-type events are often overlooked and unrecognized for their efforts in aiding the war effort.

The Vindheim Companies are not reserved only to those who fight. Just as infantry and cavalry needed the support of those in logistics, engineering corps, signals, cooks, the War College, and many other non-combat roles, Vindheim’s military is enabled and placed in a position to succeed by such. But all are part of the same military, the same army, and on the same side.

Whether combat, non-combat, or figurative combat (competitions), when citizens of Vindheim go beyond “doing” and step up to “representing” and further to representing well, beyond the borders of Vindheim, then they have stepped beyond the ordinary and normal expectations of what they are doing to perform the extraordinary and special.

To be clear, anyone can take up the colors and ensigns of Vindheim and fight for, declare allegiance to, and represent the principality. A person does not have to earn recognition in a Company to fight for or represent Vindheim or to be in any mustered army of Vindheim. From among Vindheim’s citizens who go beyond doing and take on the burden of representing Vindheim well in foreign lands, who increase the recognition or improve upon the reputation of Vindheim, while fighting, competing, teaching, performing or serving, then at the pleasure of the Vindheim Coronets recognitions in these Companies can be extended.

At its inception, the Vindheim Army will have three companies. There has been talk since War of the Rams of them being described as Special Forces or Expeditionary Forces of the Vindheim Army. Hopefully future Coronets and creative peoples can develop or maturate the names, but for now they will be the Sanguine (blood red) Company for the martial aspect of the army, the Sinople (green) Company for the art aspect of the army, and the Tenne (tawny orange) Company for the service aspect of the army.

Each company will have different categories for which a member can be awarded or recognized, the same as the structure for Ansteorra's Sable Talon. A person can be a member of the Sanguine Company for any or all of these reasons: Armoured Combat, Rapier Combat, Steel Combat, Combat Archery, Target Archery, Siege, Thrown Weapons, Youth Rapier Combat, Youth Armoured Combat, and Equestrian Deeds of Arms.

Company of the Sinople Warhorse of Vindheim Jean Paul & Gilyan November 19, 2022 / Name registered 07-2024 See the Sanguine Company for detail of the Army awards.

The Sinople Company was a bit more difficult to define categories, but with the assistance of the Sable Thistles and an excellent data analyst we have the following: Fiber Arts, Culinary Arts, Performance Arts, Household Arts, Metallurgy/Metalwork (Metal Arts?), Research, Tangible Heraldry, and Husbandry.

Company of the Tenne Warhorse of Vindheim Jean Paul & Gilyan November 19, 2022 / Name registered 07-2024 See the Sanguine Company for more detail on the Army awards.

The Tenne Company was even more difficult to define categories for since there is no distinction in any of the common award systems. But, here are our current best ideas: The Award may be given to an individual more than once, but only once for a particular type of service, as listed: 1) Group Management (people who take care of others, camp coordinators, sammich makers, land coordinators, etc.); 2) Event Administration (people who take on a staff role at a war - marshal in charge, royal liaison, sanitation, event steward, etc.); 3) Infrastructure (people who set up/tear down at the event, set up pavilions, move hay, etc.); 4) General Assistance (people who are genuine helpers to everyone); and 5) Event Operations (people who volunteer at events - gate shift, sanitation, mobility golf carts, etc.).

Wellspring of Vindheim, Order o/t Romanius & Deanna / Jean Paul & Gilyan / Romanius II & Deanna II April 16, 2022 / September 17, 2022 / 2024 / Registered as "Order" 07-2024 "Just as performance arts tend to be very public, there are artists who use art in a far more private way in order to benefit everyone around them.

Revised - Combined the Wellspring & the Silver Fountain into the Fountain. See above.

2nd Revision - And, back to the Wellspring being for physical-art as service.

Hawk's Wing of Vindheim, Order o/t Romanius II & Deanna II 2024 "The Order of the Hawk’s Wing of Vindheim is comparable to the Dove (& Rose) except it is for the fighter, not the consort. It will give them a vehicle by which to continue to serve the Principality as a group. Possibly a first for any kingdom or principality in the SCA!"
