Persona History:
Sæbjørn i Eydigardi is a late 11th century Swede, born in Nyköping in the Södermanland region of Sweden. He was born to poor farmers, but built a life for himself as a trader, traveler, warrior, and skald. He travelled heavily through the east – down through the lands of the Rus, to Miklagard (Constantinople), and even spent time in the Abassid Caliphate.
Because there are occasions when he likes to dress in later period clothing, there is an alternate version of Sæbi who lived in the mid-16th century during the Vasa era of Sweden, who is a tradesman and skald with ties and interests to parts of the Holy Roman Empire.
Previous Personas:
Giovanni Antonio di Napoli was a mid-16th century merchant’s son, sailor, and mercenary from Napoli, who owns lands along near Amalfi.
Alaric Gledewyne was a 14th century Welsh minor nobleman and warrior who was present at Crecy and Poitiers.
Interests:
- All combat, but especially rapier
- Voice heraldry
- Bardic
- Cooking
- Brewing
- Scroll painting
- Dance
- Leatherworking
- Service
- General historical research
Timeline of Activity:
Sæbi began playing in the mid-90’s (then as Alaric Gledewyne) after having discovered the SCA at the TRF demos. He greatly enjoyed his time then, playing primarily in the Canton of Gate’s Edge, as well as the Barony of Stargate. His activities were primarily chivalric combat, leatherworking, dance, bardic, and service – but life factors of his first marriage led him to having to walk away from the Dream in early 98.
His love of bardic, and coincidental friendships with active SCA members drew him back to the SCA in fall of 2021 when he began playing again in the Barony of Bryn Gwlad.
