Persona History:
Percival is a mid-thirteenth century Norman merchant sailor. He went on Crusade with Louis IX. (There is a long tale of how he wound up stealing a princess from Calabria, but we won't go there...)
Interests:
I do a whole lot of stuff, but I'm best known for cooking, brewing, and herbalism. Basically, anything that comes out of a kitchen.
Timeline of Activity:
1992: I was looking for an exercise program. I wanted to learn broadsword. I found the SCA at the field house at the University of Iowa. The SCA was holding a fighter practice in a racquetball court. I started off in Shadowdale.
1994: Became an Apprentice to Mistress Hertha Blair of Froggestow, OL, OP, of Calontir, and a Squire to Sir Cormac O'Sullivan. (As part of my quest to become a squire, I had to travel to and fight on behalf of Calontir at Estrella War.)
1995: Fought in a Crown List for the first time, making it through my first round, but knocked out in the second.
1997: Requested to serve as a Kingdom Arts & Sciences judge in the Kingdom of Calontir for the first time, even though I did not hold their grant level Arts & Sciences award.
1998: Fought in my second Crown List, winning two and losing two fights.
2000: I PCSed to Drachenwald. I stole their Princess.... I was a NCO so I had a little more time for the SCA.
2003 - 2006: Returned to Calontir, to the Barony of the Lonely Tower, Princess in tow...
2006 - 2013: Various locations. Inactive in the Society.
2014: Moved to Ansteorra, settling in Bjornsborg.
2017: Took up the office of Minister of Arts & Sciences for Bjornsborg. Became a foster-Apprentice to Haraldr Bassi. He encouraged me to attend and participate in Laurel's Prize Tourney, which I did in August of that year. I've participated in all in-person Laurel's Prize Tourneys since.
2019: Entered the Brewing competition at Steppes Warlord and won, becoming their champion.
2021: Took up the Regional Minister of Arts & Sciences.
