Persona History:

The son of a shipwright employed by the Reales Ararazanas de Sevilla (the Royal Shipyards of Seville), Rodrigo Navarro grew up working on and around warships. In the year 1413, he turned 18 and enlisted in the Castilian Royal Navy. As part of the Castilain Navy, he would sail and fight on the side of the French in the Hundred Years' War, including the 1419 Battle of La Rochelle, until he returned home in 1423. Upon his return to Castile, he was able to leverage the support of an admiral who had been impressed with his courage and competence in order to secure a small merchant ship, with which he began trading in the Bay of Biscay, now securely under the control of the Castilian Crown.
