The Award of the Sable Comet of Ansteorra is an award that was created by the 8th Crown of Ansteorra, Sigmund the Wingfooted and Sieglinde Syr.
It is awarded to persons who have served a shire or other official branch of the SCA other than a barony, well and faithfully, above and beyond what is expected of them.
The Award may be given to an individual more than once, but only once for a particular branch.
Precedence
The Comet is an AoA level award.
The award ranks just below the multitude of baronial orders and before a simple Award of Arms. It has equal precedence with the Award of the Compass Rose of Ansteorra.
Emblem
The badge of the Award shall be [Fieldless] A comet headed of a mullet of five greater and five lesser points fesswise reversed sable.
Holders of the Award shall be entitled to wear a medallion or pin depicting the badge of the Award
