Born in the 17th year of the King of Phillip VI. The third son of the Lord of Beaujeu was raised by his Mother and brothers after his father died and at the battle of Crecy in (1346). Tragedy again struck as Perrin’s eldest brother fell sick of the plague in 1349.  A youngest son, and in light of the great pestilence, Perrin’s mother insisted he be raised for clerical service. Studying both at the local parish and in 1360 left for the University at Bologna. In Italy Perrin dabbled in the art of the fence, while he should have been attending to his clerical studies.  In 1369 despite not finishing his studies, he was called home when his elder brother fell at the battle of Monteil, in Castille.  As the now heir to the Beaujeu lands, Perrin was wed to Jehanne de Montaubon. Since then, they have worked hard to rebuild holdings lost or destroyed in these tumultuous years.
