** At Skorragardr Axeman, I was honored to receive the Torsade of Namron for services to the Barony, and the Brazier of Vindheim in recognition of teaching both archery and rapier. The scrolls are beautiful, and I will wear the awards with pride. I love teaching archery in particular, and it felt amazing to be recognized by their Stormy Excellencies and my Prince and Princess in this way. Axeman was a fantastic event from start to finish, with a really fun rapier tournament on the planks and a closely-fought archery tournament. I got to try lyst heraldry for the first time, crying the Chiv and Youth Chiv tournaments. I did not compete in the Bardic tournament, but I did get to sing Cormac Mor's "The Submitter's Lament" between rounds, thus fulfilling a promise to my friend Lord [[Ashina Nobusada]]. There were bubbles and black olives and hot chocolate and really good bread and wonderful conversations with friends. Overall, a delightful event, and I'm excited for next year. After another excellent Salle de Stormweasels practice on July 9, 2025, Veronica approached me and offered to work with me as my Doña or (following her elevation in October) as my MoD. Being unsure whether I wanted to pursue a formal studentship in rapier, I expressed that to her and asked what it would mean to be her student. In response, she offered me a Quest, consisting of fighting 100 people, speaking with the members of each Peerage and Grant order in Ansteorra, doing several kinds of service, and some amount of research and an A&S project. The Quest does not require that I commit to a formal studentship, with her or anyone else, but is instead intended to give me a broader understanding of the SCA and what studentship means so that I can make a more informed decision. All of that sounded like things I wanted to do anyway, so I have taken her Quest. Once I start, I have a year to complete it.
