The Award of the Sable Thistle of Ansteorra is an award created to recognize persons who have shown outstanding work in any field of the arts and sciences. It is an AoA level award.
A person may receive multiple thistles in many different areas, but hopefully, should not receive multiple thistles for the same craft.
The award ranks just below the holders of the King's Gauntlet and Queen's Glove and before the multitude of baronial orders. It has equal precedence with the Awards of the Sable Crane, and Sable Talon.
The badge is (Fieldless) A blue thistle sable, slipped and leaved Or.
