Vladislav Strelec

When I first started playing in the SCA in the fall of 2003, one of the first examples of a "matriarch" that I met in my local group was then HL Rhiannon. She was kind yet stern, soft spoken yet firm, greatly talented yet extremely humble. That duality left an impression on me then and still now. Letting me know that you can be two sides of the same coin without betraying either of those sides. Seeing that in a person that I admired and looked up to in this Dream definitely impacted my path in the SCA and in real life. Our local group was ecstatic when she was announced to be elevated to a Peer of the Realm. This wonderful lady was a Peer and now she was going to be recognized as such. Our local group was equally sad when she announced she would be leaving the Kingdom to pursue ongoing academic and professional opportunities elsewhere. Mooneschadowe is used to our locals growing up and moving on as it is based in a college town, but Rhiannon was missed dearly while she was gone. Luckily for the Kingdom she returned to us when an opportunity presented itself. It was an absolute pleasure to talk with Rhiannon when she returned, sing in one of her impromptu sing along circles, listen to her play one of the many instruments she is so gifted at, and just see the overall joy that she brings to those around her. Mistress Rhiannon is one of the pillars that I emulate and strive to be like.

So say I,
