Persona History:

Kyna is a 10th century woman from the northern reaches of the world. Although primarily a viking persona, she will wear other garb on occasion.

Kyna was born of an English mother and a Viking father. While she has one sister, Mistress Adena, many claim the name of Terricsdottir. Kyna met and married an man who, although originally very crusader in looks, has seen the error of his ways, and joined the northern reaches of the viking ways. Together, they are raising two wonderful little monsters, Remi and Ozz.

Interests:

Kyna is interested in many things including needlework, sewing, jewelry making, trichonopoly, middle eastern drumming, volunteering, and much, much, more.

Timeline of Activity:

My parents joined the SCA in the mid 70's. I was conceived at a late summer event - maybe a Wiesenfeuer event? - and I was 6 days old when they brought me to my first event - Namron Protectorate.
Kyna met and married Baron Andrew Turnbull in the fall of AS 46 (2013)
TRM Jason I and Margherita I announced Kyna for the Order of the Pelican, and elevated her at Their last court.

HE Kyna Terricsdottir is well known for enjoying fun and a good time. When Baroness of Namron she often enjoyed making court interesting with “What’s in your pocketes?” and handing out largess. Although my favorite court was “Duck, Duck, Award”. I recall during Beltane HE blowing bubbles and going up and down the rows of the populace playing “Duck, Duck, Award”. It was one I’ll always remember and think every child at heart got a huge kick out of it.

Mistress Kyna was the Baroness of Namron when my family joined the SCA. She did lots of things that made us feel welcome, but one in particular remains in my memory. She accompanied me through Merchants Row at my first Gulf Wars, pointing out shops that carried things relating to my Norse persona, recommending others due to their great service or selection, and telling me stories of Gulf Wars past. As we neared the end of our trek, she surprised me with a pottery tasting cup as a memento of my first war. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and one that continues to inspire me to help newcomers find their place in the SCA.

When Kyna was invited to join the Order of the Pelican, a few of us decided to show our undying respect by doing something special for her. We "acquired" random items from her home and secreted them away until her vigil. As each of us entered her tent to offer congratulations and words of wisdom, we also presented her with her own possessions. It was a good day.

I first saw Baroness Kyna at the 2016 Norman Medieval Fair. I saw her in the middle of the crowd talking, playing and laughing with all the children visiting the SCA area! She’s what made me want to join the SCA!
