They still argued that we weren't using the couches legally.

2013

  • Crown Tourney. Helped M. Emma run the List during the determination of Jean Paul II and Gilyan II's successors: Lochlann and Gwen
  • Kingdom Arts and Sciences. Bordermarch. Entered an Egyptian stocking (just one). Scores: 37 and 45. Pretty much awesome for a first time!

2012

Stepped out of Local Reeve office and into NR Exchequer in early October.

  • Steppes 12th Night. Turpin and Elyssa. Stayed at Asoph and Michelle's. Asoph feast included Mole and Tamales. ("Very tasty" is a given.) This was the event of the "dooshkanue."
  • Winter Meeting (my semi-annual work conference) conflicted with Winter War Maneuvers. :-( Pretty much heartbroken. But, I was working on Search and Rescue 8th, so that made it better.
  • Bryn Gwlad's Candlemas. With Gilyan and Emma and Niki, staying at Pug and Myfanwy's. Discovered that it is the Right Thing to bring lots of candles in wide varieties because they drop the lights low. I made a Pelican-style Monmouth at this event (there was a circle) and gave it to HRH Elisabeta kind of as a lark. And she asked me for one of her own. Yay!
  • wInterkingdom. Lucet class. Not very polished, but I met some very nice Calontiri and sat with them at Feast.
  • Fire with Faileen. February through April. Made glass beads for Faileen's wedding party (20 beads each for 5 participants, within a set of parameters - and that doesn't count the trial-and-error, rejects, and shattered).
  • Kingdom Arts and Sciences. I received my Grant in February in the form of an invitation to join the Companions of the Iris of Merit, in my apprentice-sister B.Audrella's lands, the Barony of the Eldern Hills. Presented by HRM Amelot (and bearing her token) in the presence of HRH Elizabeta (most of the Knights were away at a Knights' Retreat). It was definitely a surprise, and a welcome one at that. But I was shaking so hard, I couldn't get any of the pins to work. I got one ribbon from M.Michelle and one from M.Beorhtlic - the one M.Elisaveta had made for HL Aelfwyn, complete with a rockin' pin from Aelfwyn (of Crafty Celt provenance). Backstory: I'd almost talked myself out of going to the event but came back around when a caravan was assembled, and anyway, I had bearded hats to deliver to Adena before Company of Wolves the following weekend (for a tribute to her dad). I saw a bunch of my hats around the hall at this event. HRH Elisabeta asked me for one, so I brought four - two for her and Hrafn, and two for Amelot and Aaron.
  • Provincial Games. Inaugural year. Payne County Fairgrounds. HRM Hrafn in attendance. Hrafn wore my hat after the fighting. :-) Wreath meeting - went okay for all the crowd-clutter. Alice ran Gate and it went well.
  • Gulf War XXI. Turpin, Isolde, and I stopped by New Orleans on the way to Site and Turpin bought us hats from a street vendor. Camped in the French Bell we bought from Ramirez. I ran the camp kitchen and was staff at Volunteer Point. (JP Land.) Octavia sammich ninja'd! I got my very own "flash mob" led by Nik when he hunted me down through Merchant's Row (on VP business) to give me a MOG Cog for running the kitchen for the week. The Guard was so involved in playing "Weeping Angels" that they ended up attracting the attention of HRH Elizabeta, who had also been looking for me to give me one of her shmexy unicorn pins to put on my pretty rainbow ribbon! It was a good day to be me!
  • Eldern's Baronial. Brom and Audrella's Step-Down announcement. Iron Artisan Competition.
  • Adlersruhe's Lady of the Lake. Rode to site with "Moustache" Daniel. Iron Artisan Cooking Competition with Daniel, Lillias, Liliana, Svetlana. The secret ingredient was Juniper Berries. Our presentation was very simple but easily documentable: stewed meat, boiled rice, sun-brewed tea. Our competitor pieces were: (from Adlersrhe) a very elaborate, fancy (semi-documentable) meal: roasted chicken, bread, mead; and (from Brad Leah) a mixed-medium meal: custard, bread, starters, something with bananas in it.
  • Second Reign of Jean Paul and Gilyan. (July-Sep as TRHs, Sep-April as TRMs) Crown Tourney hosted by the Barony of Northkeep; held at the Will Rogers Boy Scout Reservation. Mooneschadowe heralded them in, and they won the day!
  • Started jogging Boomer Lake with Vailathai filius Carantacus (John Garrett-Baggerly).
  • Roadtrip! Roswell with Shannon, the Swede, Shaggy, and Charles! (August 10-13) Pretty much epic! Activities: Left Denton around 11pm (?) Thursday night. Arrived in Roswell around 10am Friday, caught a diner, a store, and a museum. Left for Ruidoso Downs and our hotel. Shannon and I got pedis while the guys crashed. Then we all went out for dinner. Then Shannon and I crashed while the guys went to a casino. Saturday afternoon: Race Track! Betted on some ponies! Then we checked out as much scenery as we could handle. Then we found dinner and liquor. Then we had a mellow time at the hotel. Sunday morning: White Sands! Then Carlsbad Caverns! Then a decent steak place. Then Denton at 5am Monday.
  • Calontir's Metal and Glassworker's Symposium. Roadtrip with Beorhtlic, Ainar, Faileen, (me), Talbot, Wilhelm!! Fantastic time! I made a Forged Penannular Brooch; took a Brocading class (that used real wire!); learned the version of Damascening that involves a bright metal (copper in my case) overlay on top of a black mild steel (and got a Woodchuck for my efforts!); made 13th Century wrapped wire rings; learned how to cut my own mandrels from hardware store stock; learned about Granulation! And there were another five or six techniques I learned about by listening and watching from the sidelines, outside of classes, including a period style forced air furnace for glass beads.
  • Triumphe VII of the Apocalypse! Autocratting with Reis ap Tudor! I made us matching Phrygian caps so we'd be findable on site. This year's "drama" involved more people wanting more activities on Saturday! The weather was overcast the entire weekend. It rained on Thursday night and was otherwise dry. We both got mild sunburns from sitting outside for the majority of the event. I stayed out of the kitchen except to walk through periodically. There was a moment when the Feast Staff was standing around with clean, bare counters. I think all the work was done by fairy elf children. Alice ran Gate, and we had a speedy clean-up.
  • Coronation of Jean Paul II and Gilyan II. Hosted by The Barony of Namron. Feast Stewarded with Charles! In Durant, OK. Menu: First Course: Breads, Butters, Fried Cheese (Her Majesty's favorites); Second Course: Chicken (and peppered gravy) and Waffles (with blueberry sauce and bacon roses on the side) (His Majesty's favorites); Third Course: Beef Roast with Vegetables (inc. new potatoes for Himself); Fourth Course: Funnel Cakes with powdered sugar (for Herself).
  • Wiesenfeuer Baronial. Charles autocratting! I picked up a cold at the end of the weekend. It was stressful in the vein of not feeling like we were where we were supposed to be (primarily garb-wise) during the event. I'm on a mission to work on that now...
  • Warrant for NR Exchequer signed (at some point between Coronation and here). I think Liliana's (my replacement) was also signed at Coronation. End of an era, so to speak.
  • Queen's Champion. Roadtripping with Reis/Emma and Niki and Asha. Listmistressing in place of Myfanwy. I made a particolored straight-line (t-tunic-style) dress that may or may not become more late-period over time (work). This weekend, Charles is taking an expedition of the LionDragon Guard on a secret mission (aka FUGA) known only to himself - flights in a WWII vintage airplane.
  • Protectorate. I got on site at 1am and finished the bread (60 loaves) by noon. Feast by Margherita de Mantua was fantastic! Bread with balsamic vinegrette and olive oil. Ham pasties, roast brisket, cheesecake. The sound in the hall reflected everyone's growing happiness as the feast went on, and hijinks ensued.
  • Cat Show
  • Samhain. Roadtrip with Beorhtlic and Elisavetta, Elisabeth de Calais and Olivia. Stepping down of Brom and Audrella, stepping up of Aidan and Sabiha
  • Wreath meeting.
  • Trench Rescue photo shoot with Leslie (Guni).
  • Wiesenfeuer Yule Revel. Taught a warranting class (my first solo!) especially for the three incoming local reeves. Good conversation and productivity.

2011

Reeve

  • Crown Tourney. Held in Bryn Gwlad's Castleton site. In the rain. Very sloshy.
  • wInterkingdom. Bread class for kids, to coordinate with the kitchen run by Elisabeth de Calais! Alice was very helpful.
  • Gulf War XX. Emma ran the camp and Charles ran the kitchen. (JP Land) I got just short of 30 hours at Troll and Waterbearing.
  • Over the weekend of LPT, I was in Atlanta, GA for FRI (a work trade show) - which put me in the same town on the same weekend (but not the same hotel) as DragonCon. Talk about being so close yet so far away from the party!
  • LPT. I sent my display items, with a photo of how I wanted it arranged, with Vailathai and Charles. By the end of the event, I gained a son in Vailathai. I got some good feedback and some even better stories. I looked through my comments again a year after the fact and found more gems. Socks, gingerbread, glass beads.
  • Triumphe VI. Elyssa made steak for dinner for the handful of us who were on site Friday night without other dinner plans. Ran Waterbearing and Troll at the same time. I wouldn't recommend it. Haemon's feast went over VERY well. Court got interrupted by a ridiculous storm that knocked out some tents. I got a Sable Thistle in Lampwork Beads and Charles got his Crane. I got kicked out of the Kitchen Party this year. It needed to happen. I stayed out of the kitchen during the day, both by necessity and timing. I didn't even have time to eat Feast because the Gate books were a mess. I had Liondragon colored Monmouth caps for all the newbies camping with us so we could identify them.
  • Adlersruhe's Passa des Armes. With Karl and Toinette. Won their A&S competition. :-D
  • E-VI started kicking up right about here. It became a "thing" in my life in November.
  • Skorragarrdr's Axeman. Cook's Symposium. I made my bread recipe as a class, and the result was served with the tavern. Sigrid was very helpful.
  • Boxing Day was at the Payne County Fairgrounds.
  • Wisenfeuer Yule. Helped watch Adena's book at her Pelicanning. Highlight of my life: Carrying the Giraffe Rising Star in Adena's processional! :-)
  • Award of the Province's Honor.

2010

Took over Reeve in January. Moved out of Fratopia in June. Moved into Fallinghaus. Married Charles.

  • First Reign of Jean Paul and Gilyan. Crown Tourney was held in Ravensfort. It was kind of "Axeman I and II" miserable - primitive site, not a damn thing for the non-Chivalry to do once the post-Tourney circle started - and no shelter for us to do that nothing in. But the reign itself went well! :-) (TRHs Jan-April, TRMs April-Nov)
  • wInterkingdom. Weaving Solar, second year
  • Gulf War XIX. King Owen did us proud - our allies made up quite a crowd; and Prince JP lead us well for all to see (especially when Owen was down with his staph infection). Ludo ran the Kitchen.
  • LPT. With TRMs JP and Gilyan (since they'd promised to go if the date got moved off Tourney Season).
  • Married Charles on July 24th. We got to have a fantastic party with close to 200 of our favorite people, which included Royal Presence! (Though not formally on the Progress calendar, we were a prestanding engagement that they actively worked around!)
  • Pennsic. We were in court when John of Severn was announced for elevation to Knighthood (to be done at War of Ages). Spent some quality time with Ulsted/Ebbie and Hrafn/Elizabeta and Isabella from Bryn Gwlad, and Hillary Greenslade.
  • Triumphe V. Elyssa's Booze Feast! Vogna was the Second and made sure things were maintaining timing. We blamed everything that went even sorta slantwise on Haemon, and he accepted with grace. Atia and I made the bread the night before (Friday night?). Just the simple Artisan recipe.
  • War of Ages. Rode in with Nik and Whitney. Ludo and Melchior were there. Lochlann offered to feed anyone Ludo brought. John of Severn's elevation featuring a table of bacon-related awesomeness. I'd offered to be a Bacon Wench, so I showed up in my corset - unfortunately after most of the party was over since we arrived so late.
  • Winter War Maneuvers. Sammich Ninja, sitting in the back of the Field House with our armor and other supplies, hanging out with the cool people who were sitting out a round of fighting or just there for the ambience.
  • Boxing Day was at the Mannford house. Elizabeta brought Lush things for all the women in attendance.
  • Winter of the Monmouth Cap. I finally found M.Talana's documentation and made up a few for family and close friends - namely Aaron, Brian, Nik because they worked outdoors and Aaron kept forgetting to bring head covering. And then I made more for more friends. I think I counted 40 this year.

2009

On the tail end of being Seneschal. Fratopia. Started at FPP in October.

  • wInterkingdom. Weaving Solar, first year. (Rhiannon's idea)
  • Gulf War XVIII. Mooneschadowe shared space with Namron. We hosted the Northern Region Dinner and it went okay. (Liliana coordinated the Land.)
  • Triumphe IV. Charles Squired to Sir Owen. I was making bread on Saturday, so I didn't have a whole lot of equilibrium to spend on my own timing. I was called in time for the ceremony. This was a year of high interpersonal drama.
  • Three Queens. Eldern ran the camp kitchen for Queen Vanessa, and they all had garb in a matching style, and I've been beside myself in intrigue and fascination since. I had a good time, but I was primarily there as moral support to the fighters.
  • Chemin Noir's Harvest of the Axe, Heros vs Monsters. Apprenticed to Master Beorhtlic. Charles volunteered to run feast at this event because they were having a hard time finding a feast steward. So I did bread for this event. We crashed in the small storage room behind the hall. More people than just us (I specifically remember Don Timothy) called it Harvest of the Yaks. I dressed up as Bubbles from the Power Puff Girls (heroes), and no one got it, so meh.
  • Winter War Maneuvers.

2008

Seneschal. Moved into Old Frat in May, then Fratopia in June.

  • wInterkingdom. Adalia's Knitting Class
  • Gulf War XVII. Rode with Rhiannon and Toinette. Short War. Card Game.
  • Triumphe III. Feodora autocratted. Vogna and Charles ran the kitchen. I did bread for Feast. Zorya ran Archery.
  • Winter War Maneuvers. I think this is the year I fought. (I fought the year the Men of Scutum Calendar came out. That was the year with the picture of me and Ollj looking opposite directions, looking bedraggled and happy.)

2007

Stepped out of KM and took over Seneschal in July.

  • Gulf War XVI. Took my white Lumina. It broke down one town before Site. Very traumatic.
  • Castellan. Rhiannon's elevation to Laurel.
  • Triumphe II. Rafe/Isabella autocratted. Sabine did Feast. I may have done bread at this feast, but I don't have a clear memory of what was served. I stayed with Zorya in her tent. Charles was on site but didn't show up until late. Two clear memories: One: being called from my tent to help Isabella and Rafe with some interpersonal drama from a group-not-Mooneschadowe. Two: Ainar (NR Seneschal at the time) finding me in the dishwasher pit in the kitchen to tell me there was something going on that I should be part of (more interpersonal drama).
  • Winter War Maneuvers.

2006

Moved in with Rhiannon in December.

  • Gulf War XV. This was the second year we took Thirsty. (I think this is the year I helped Maggie with Land.) I had the Card Game going this year. It didn't fall on Spring Break. I was in the car following the bus, and that car's water pump seized on the way home. I spent two nights with Asric and Tim Hardin while the car (his grandmother's) was in the shop.
  • Thirsty the Magic Shed broke down in Namron on the way to Gothic in the late summer. Baron Ulf lead the caravan to help us out.
  • Gothic War. Charles stayed with the bus to get it to his grandparents' farm in Prague. I think I remember that he got a ride in later.
  • Triumphe I. Feast Steward with Aline as my Second. That was the inaugural year for the Mooneschadowe Kitchen Party because Charles loves me and wants me to be happy.
  • Blood of Heroes. The Damn Dirty Foreigners ride again. Magnus committed atrocities and Eirik got blamed for them.

2005

Knight Marshal, starting in July. Moved into Fighter Frat in May.

  • Gulf War XIV. Cold War! Spent a lot of time at Troll. Green 6-person nylon from my parents. Charles was LDGC. We took Thirsty the Magic Shed (the Bus) to War. Mahdi was crown. I had the Card Game in full swing. I think this was the year I only brought flip flops for footwear.
  • Guardian XXV. Charles autocratted. I was M.Maggie's Second in the kitchen. This was the year with the white sausages. Ollj, AnneLyse, Kat, and a handful of others stayed up late to get this done after Maggie blacked out. From earlier in the day, I remember being surprised (and confused at my surprise) at seeing 16 pie tins that would need crusts (I think I did a number of 'em). This was also the year when we had surprise Calontiri coming out of the woods in such numbers that Rhiannon wrote a Treatise on Poo to account for the rest facilities.
  • Blood of Heroes. Return of the Damn Dirty Foreigners. I think this was the second year we brought the bus to this event. They'd told us the year before that we couldn't use the couches to block the goal post unless they had tabards, so we sewed couch covers with bulletholes so we'd be able to use the couches. They still argued that we weren't using the couches legally.
  • Winter War Maneuvers. Shannon and Sarah were allowed to go with us because we had a Certified Canadian caravan driver following the Bus. We stayed with Jean-Michel, I believe.

2004

(lived alone, no office)

  • Gulf War XIII. JP's Knighting! Did a lot of Waterbearing. Double-long Army half-shelter tent with Charles. In the Main Mooneschadowe camp this year!
  • Guardian XXIV. Helped Mark von Mainz in the kitchen. I mostly remember breaking up Romaine heads for the salad and measuring out individual bowls of dry ingredients for 16 loaves of bread. Oh, and also baking a cake for his son's birthday that weekend.
  • Blood of Heroes. Introduction of the Damn Dirty Foreigners. We had the bus and therefore List-Side couches, at the rural site with the tiny grocery store at the end of the road, and we bought steaks and kitchy Christmas mugs for the Feast of Meat.
  • Winter War Maneuvers. Bonnie went the previous year as a fighter. Charles told me that girls don't go to this event. Shows what he knows: I sammich ninja'd this year with Adena, Emmalina, Dani. I think we took the bus this year. I think this was the year of -10 degrees.

2002

(lived in Kerr-Drummond, did RHA)

  • Gulf War XI: First War! Did a lot of wandering around and Waterbearing. Army half-shelters in the Mooneschadowe Ghetto. Highlight of the War: Chatting with then-HL Maggie at the Ghetto campfire for hours. We didn't have a good run of supplies for food, so we had to use some creativity to get anemic grilled cheese sandwiches. On the way home, we stopped by Gulfport to hang out on the beach for a little while - until we all got 2nd degree sunburns. Then we went to dinner with Ian's dad in Lafayette, LA.
  • Charles and I went separate ways in October and reconnected in January 2004.

2001

(lived in Kerr-Drummond)

  • Ainar and Mercedes' Investiture, at Will Rogers, wearing garb out of the Northkeep loaner box (I loved that dress!).
  • Started dating Charles in November.
