	''This story is an original composition I wrote based on the invasion of England by the Great Heathen Army in the 9th century. According to the sagas, the army was said to have been led by the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok after they learned of Ragnars capture and execution by King Aella of Northumbria. According to the legend, Ragnar was thrown into a pit of venomous snakes where he was bitten and eventually died. It was said though, before he died, Ragnar was to have said, "Oh how the young pigs would squeal when they learned the fate of the old boar." This was the main inspiration I drew upon for the story. The story features a few kennings, which are a writing technique used by skalds. (Old Norse word for poet) A kenning is similar to a metaphor in that you name something by describing it. The kennings used in my poem are "otter's ransom", "raven-wine", " "spear-dance," and "blood eagle wings." 			Hold tongue and harken all to hear the highest praise spoken here in the hall of the high-born holder of the black star crown.<BR>

			This silver-tongue sings the saga of a swordsman born by sea-winds who sought his fame in the steel-song.<BR>
			<BR>
			But the breath of sea-winds blew to send this battle seeking warrior to stand before the oaken heart and to study beneath Duke Creppin l'Ostriche, who later bestowed upon him the belt of red.<BR><BR>
			Wanting to call himself champion, he stepped forth to claim the title in the Crown's unbelted tournament. He cleaved all who challenged him to claim his title. But, this champion could not be satisfied claiming this title just once, and so he cleaved men and proclaimed himself champion again.<BR><BR>
			His king did see his deadly skill and did choose him to fight a Duke as the bye in crown despite this death dealer's only title being that of Lord. But this lord of death did defeat that Duke in the spear-dance.<BR><BR>
			This black star son, having been called champion twice before, sought the battle fame once more by entering Jarl Floki's champion battle. There, he made his bid to be called the Jarls champion, and there he faced many with his blades. There, upon the bloody battlefield, he beat them all. When the battle was over, this black star son knelt before Jarl Floki and was named the Jarls champion.<BR><BR>
			This fearsome fighter then found himself facing our foreign foes on the field of combat for the Gulf Wars champion fight. He fought hard and found victory for his kingdom.<BR><BR>
			Called before his king, he came after claiming many more victories. He was chosen to join the Order of the Centurions, and he was covered with the eagles cloak.<BR><BR>
			Once more, his king called him to cleave our foreign foes in the Gulf Wars champion challenge, and once more, he claimed victory for his crown.<BR><BR>
			Your Majesties, these are some of the many deeds of this mighty man who stands before you. It is my honor to make known the word fame of Centurion Magnus Creppinson!<BR><BR>

Our kingdom formed a team with one extra person as a reserve. While we won the first fight, during the fight one of our fighters suffered a blow that unfortunately injured them and they were unable to fight and continue in the tournament. Her majesty, who was watching the tournament, came over and comforted the fallen fighter while the remaining fighters formed a “human shield wall” by standing shoulder to shoulder with their backs to the fallen fighter to protect her. After the injured fighter was taken away by the medical team the remaining ten fighters went back out on the field and proceeded to fight on without them. While they did not win the overall tournament, they ended up in second place. During court his majesty called in everyone who fought in the tournament including the injured fighter and gave each of them a Sable Falcon. While the fighters were still kneeling before their majesties, two knights, Sir Arma and Sir Martel came forward and were so impressed by the deeds done by those who fought in the tournament that they presented each of them with a small link that was part of a knight chain. 	''This poem is based on a story I was told by Jarl Timo about how a single knight and squire “won” Gulf Wars all by themselves. He told me this story and asked me to write a skaldic poem based on it. The story goes that one year at Gulf Wars everyone showed up to fight as they normally did, but it rained. And it kept raining. And soon the entire battlefield was soaked and several people left because they figured the war was canceled. Two people who stayed behind were Sir [[Quintas Drake]], and Timo who was still a squire at that time. Drake had just been knighted a short time before the story took place. According to Timo, they both were partying and having a good time when they heard a rumor that the Trimarin Army was holding a sort of “fight club” in their large pavilion tent. Drake and Timo decided to put on their armor and sneak into the Trimarin camp and challenge them to a fight. They both entered the Trimarin tent and proclaimed themselves the champions of Ansterorra and told the Trimarin fighters to send forth two champions to fight them. After beating both of their “champions” Drake and Timo left to head back to their camps. On their way back they learned that The King of Ansteorra was holding a meeting with the other crowns to determine if they would continue the war with all the rain. When Drake and Timo learned of this, they made their way to the meeting and walked in and announced to the assembled royalty that they had defeated the Trimarin champions in single combat and had “won” the war for Ansteorra. This poem is the longest I have written to date at fifty-two verses. 	This poem is based on a story I was told by Jarl Timo about how a single knight and squire “won” Gulf Wars all by themselves. He told me this story and asked me to write a skaldic poem based on it. The story goes that one year at Gulf Wars everyone showed up to fight as they normally did, but it rained. And it kept raining. And soon the entire battlefield was soaked and several people left because they figured the war was canceled. Two people who stayed behind were Sir [[Quintas Drake]], and Timo who was still a squire at that time. Drake had just been knighted a short time before the story took place. According to Timo, they both were partying and having a good time when they heard a rumor that the Trimarin Army was holding a sort of “fight club” in their large pavilion tent. Drake and Timo decided to put on their armor and sneak into the Trimarin camp and challenge them to a fight. They both entered the Trimarin tent and proclaimed themselves the champions of Ansterorra and told the Trimarin fighters to send forth two champions to fight them. After beating both of their “champions” Drake and Timo left to head back to their camps. On their way back they learned that The King of Ansteorra was holding a meeting with the other crowns to determine if they would continue the war with all the rain. When Drake and Timo learned of this, they made their way to the meeting and walked in and announced to the assembled royalty that they had defeated the Trimarin champions in single combat and had “won” the war for Ansteorra. This poem is the longest I have written to date at fifty-two verses. 	This poem was written based on a story that happened at Pennsic 50. At the event, Ansteorra entered a tournament called Ten Man Unbelted Melee. Our kingdom formed a team with one extra person as a reserve. While we won the first fight, during the fight one of our fighters suffered a blow that unfortunately injured them and they were unable to fight and continue in the tournament. Her majesty, who was watching the tournament, came over and comforted the fallen fighter while the remaining fighters formed a “human shield wall” by standing shoulder to shoulder with their backs to the fallen fighter to protect her. After the injured fighter was taken away by the medical team the remaining ten fighters went back out on the field and proceeded to fight on without them. While they did not win the overall tournament, they ended up in second place. During court his majesty called in everyone who fought in the tournament including the injured fighter and gave each of them a Sable Falcon. While the fighters were still kneeling before their majesties, two knights, Sir Arma and Sir Martel came forward and were so impressed by the deeds done by those who fought in the tournament that they presented each of them with a small link that was part of a knight chain.
