			"I am not talking about the end of rapier or the 4th Peerage or Rapier-Knights. I am talking about what my personal goals were when I picked up a sword over 22 years ago. I never wanted an award. Awards were mythical things that those people who had been around forever got. I was 22 years old and had read all the wrong bloody books and seen the wrong damn movies. I wanted to be something, but I knew it was not the classic “Knight”. I thought they were cool, but I was not Gawain or Arthur or Richard the Lionheart. I much more understood Athos and Jhereg and the Grey Mouser. I did not have a word for it. And then I started rapier. And I saw those people. Different, but the attitude was the same. When I say I wanted to be a Don, I could not give a rat’s ass about the rank. It is completely irrelevant to me. <BR><BR>
			I saw Mouse and Horoun in that first Queen’s I was at. I heard Robin and Iolo tell stories. I saw how Blayne and Gwenneth were dressed. I listend to Aubri being the consummate courtier. I heard the stories of Tivar’s courage to stand up against all odds and somehow…not let Rapier die. I listened to the story of Gwenno wanting to fight… and damn well not taking no for an answer. I saw Antonia’s grace, Esteban’s panache, Modius’ absolute drive, Brendan’s precision, Eule’s presense, Sigmund’s planning, Miguel’s absolute deadliness, Benedict’s wit… and more. And I knew I could NEVER be them.<BR><BR>
			But I could be one of them. <BR><BR>
			I could be me, and I could strive to be someone that they accepted as part of this band of brothers and sisters. <BR><BR>
			The rank does not matter to me. Being a Don. Being accepted by these giants that walked among us…them telling me that I was fit to sit with them and be one of them.<BR><BR>
			To be told that I was the Queen’s Man… what more could one ask for?"<BR><BR>
