Greetings Ansteorra! We had a fantastic time this weekend at Crown Tournament, getting to see so many of our friends and family. We are very excited to be the new Prince and Princess of this Great Kingdom and want to thank all the fighters for their skill and the honor they showed throughout the day, the consort for their inspiration, the support we received from so many people, and the autocrats for all their hard work. We look forward to working with the Crown and serving this awesome Kingdom. YIS, Jason & Margherita III, Prince & Princess Ansteorra. 
 

====February 2, 2020====
Greetings Ansteorra! Here is the format for the King’s Champion Tourney. All fighters are encouraged to attend and fight. This is a great opportunity to test your skill against a wide range of combatants. 
The Format will be: 
Bring your best. 
1 hour round robin. 
Fighters will be lined up in 2 equal lines facing each other. 
You will fight single point against the person across from you. 
The person on the end of A will then go to Side B 
The person on the opposite end of Side B will go to Side A 
The net effect of this will be that the person that is rotating to the other side will now fight the person that was standing to their Left. This creates a circular motion for the fighters. 
 
This process will continue for a full hour. If anyone needs to take a break they can but the fighting will continue. 
 
Those fighters that do not wish to compete for the King’s Champion Title will just notify the Lyst mistress. All Knights are encouraged to attend the Lyst and fight if able. The Tourney will be over prior to Step Down Court. This will allow everyone to participate in the day’s activities.

Greetings Ansteorra! We are so excited and quite surprised by the opportunity to serve the Kingdom once again. We will be working with Their Royal Majesties during the next couple of months to help them in any way we can while we prepare for the future of Ansteorra. We are so proud of Ansteorra, the officers, and the people of this great Kingdom. And it humbles us to be able to be a part of this Dream and Adventure with each of you. We have so many friends across the Kingdom and look forward to spending time with them and to making many new friends. As much as Their Majesties travel and with all the travel that we do, it’s still not possible for us to see all the wonderful things that people do and make. We need your help! We need award recommendations for all those people you see doing and making things to make Ansteorra Awesome! We look forward to seeing each of you at upcoming events in the near future. Greetings Ansteorra: We are excited about our new beginning! When we became Prince and Princess for our wonderful Kingdom we were planning on business as usual and a normal reign and that we would know what we were doing and how to do it . WOW, we were in for a Surprise! We were just like everyone else, we were not sure what to do or how to do it. We have been fortunate as a Kingdom, as Prince and Princess, and now as King and Queen to have so many people all over the Kingdom that want to help. People have stepped up from everywhere saying, “Hey, I know how to do ABC, let me help set this up and do it”; Fighters have been making training videos, Artisans have been doing online classes, service minded people are doing on-line classes, many organizations and groups are doing online meetings, get togethers, and even events! Thank you to everyone that has been pitching in and helping. This is a new and exciting time! In the upcoming weeks (through the end of June) we will be having Court every week! Some weeks we will be working with a Virtual Event that is being held, if there is no Virtual Event we will still have Court. We already have things planned for every Court! We look forward to working with everyone, trying new things, learning, and having fun. In service to the Dream, Jason & Margherita III, King & Queen Ansteorra 
 
Ansteorra! We love traditions, one of those traditions is the love, support, and confidence that is shown when people swear an Oath of Service or Fealty. Only certain people and positions are required to swear an Oath, most of the people that swear an Oath do it because they want to. In order to give people a chance to swear their Oaths we have come up with a plan and a schedule. Starting this coming Saturday, May 16th, we will have a Virtual Royal Court in connection with The Baron & Baroness of NorthKeep. Court will begin at 4pm and will first feature the Oaths of Fealty from the Landed B&Bs of Ansteorra. In the coming weeks we are planning for the following Courts - these may change: 
May 23rd - (Steppes Virtual Event) Knights and Master of Arms that choose to 
May 30th - Laurels, that choose to 
June 6th - (King’s College Virtual Event) Pelicans, that choose to 
June 13th - Masters of Defense, that choose to 
June 20th - White Scarves, that choose to 
 
We are working on plans for more things so stay tuned and watch for news!

All Pairings for initial Rounds will be random drawings by members of the populace. 
 
Round 1 - Best 2 out of 3 - Dane Axe - Maximum Weapon Length of 5’, Single Edge, Butt spikes and back spikes will not be counted. 
Round 2 - Best 2 out 3 - Glave, maximum length 7’ 6”, Butt spikes are allowed. Fighters are also allowed to carry and use a side arm, maximum length of 24” 
Round 3 - Best 2 out of 3 - Great Sword, maximum length 6’, no Butt spikes allowed. 
Round 4 or 5 - Best 2 out of 3, Bring your best. All Rounds and weapons are subject to change at the discretion of the Crown.

Jason and I would like to thank Their Excellencies, [[Beorhlic Folcwineson]] and [[Elisaveta af Isefjord]] for their time and service to the Barony of [[Northkeep]] and Ansteorra. They will be stepping down as Baron and Baroness of Northkeep at their Castellan event on June 26, 2021. We are happy to announce that the next Baron and Baroness of Northkeep will be Lord [[Perrin de Beaujeu]] and Honorable Lady [[Jehanne de Montauban]]. Their Investiture will be at the same Castellan event as the step down of the current Baron and Baroness of Northkeep. We look forward to working with them to continue the growth and prosperity of Northkeep and Ansteorra.

Thank you all who came out to the first in person event at Myrgenfeld Collegium. It was wonderful being able to see people and talk with everyone. We held our Royal Huntsman where Laird/Lady [[Johanna Buchanan]] did an awesome job running a skillful and fun shoot. Thank you, Jonaya, for all the time/work you put in as Duke Sven Randullsson and Countess Cristyana Lambrecht's Royal Huntsman and for the time as our Royal Huntsman, and we look forward to seeing you at future events. Our new Royal Huntsman is [[ Raulff Smeithberde]] - we look forward to having you with us and working with you for the rest of our Reign! 
 

===June 13, 2021: Queen's Champion===
Yesterday was an amazing day. I want to thank everyone who was part of my Day. I received many gifts, that were appreciated. I was able to talk with each of the fighters/consorts. I was able to watch many amazing fights. I want to thank Hellsgate for putting on a wonderful event. I want to thank the Legion of Swashbucklers for being there for me. The White Scarf and MoDs that were there and spoke with me all day long. Thank you to entourage who kept up with both His Majesty and myself. Thank you to Jason Drysdale for the kind words in court. 
There were many tears shed as we celebrated being back together and getting to pay special tribute to Don Tivar. Though he is gone he will never be forgotten! 
I was happy to see so many fighters doing so well and impressing so many people. Throughout the day I received words of deeds and prowess and got to witness fighters doing their best. Special thanks to Master [[Robin of Gilwell]] who helped with planning things and speaking with me, he fought well and also received the Queen's Blade of Honor, I am proud of what he did and how he represented the community. Congratulations to my new Queen's Champion, Don [[Lorenzo Baglioni d'Aosta]]! I enjoyed watching you fight and I appreciate your willingness to serve!

Greetings Ansteorra! We had a fantastic time this weekend at Crown Tournament, getting to see so many of our friends and family. We are very excited to be the new Prince and Princess of this Great Kingdom and want to thank all the fighters for their skill and the honor they showed throughout the day, the consort for their inspiration, the support we received from so many people, and the autocrats for all their hard work. We look forward to working with the Crown and serving this awesome Kingdom. YIS, Jason & Margherita III, Prince & Princess Ansteorra. 
 

====February 2, 2020====
Greetings Ansteorra! Here is the format for the King’s Champion Tourney. All fighters are encouraged to attend and fight. This is a great opportunity to test your skill against a wide range of combatants. 
The Format will be: 
Bring your best. 
1 hour round robin. 
Fighters will be lined up in 2 equal lines facing each other. 
You will fight single point against the person across from you. 
The person on the end of A will then go to Side B 
The person on the opposite end of Side B will go to Side A 
The net effect of this will be that the person that is rotating to the other side will now fight the person that was standing to their Left. This creates a circular motion for the fighters. 
 
This process will continue for a full hour. If anyone needs to take a break they can but the fighting will continue. 
 
Those fighters that do not wish to compete for the King’s Champion Title will just notify the Lyst mistress. All Knights are encouraged to attend the Lyst and fight if able. The Tourney will be over prior to Step Down Court. This will allow everyone to participate in the day’s activities.

Greetings Ansteorra! We are so excited and quite surprised by the opportunity to serve the Kingdom once again. We will be working with Their Royal Majesties during the next couple of months to help them in any way we can while we prepare for the future of Ansteorra. We are so proud of Ansteorra, the officers, and the people of this great Kingdom. And it humbles us to be able to be a part of this Dream and Adventure with each of you. We have so many friends across the Kingdom and look forward to spending time with them and to making many new friends. As much as Their Majesties travel and with all the travel that we do, it’s still not possible for us to see all the wonderful things that people do and make. We need your help! We need award recommendations for all those people you see doing and making things to make Ansteorra Awesome! We look forward to seeing each of you at upcoming events in the near future. Greetings Ansteorra: We are excited about our new beginning! When we became Prince and Princess for our wonderful Kingdom we were planning on business as usual and a normal reign and that we would know what we were doing and how to do it . WOW, we were in for a Surprise! We were just like everyone else, we were not sure what to do or how to do it. We have been fortunate as a Kingdom, as Prince and Princess, and now as King and Queen to have so many people all over the Kingdom that want to help. People have stepped up from everywhere saying, “Hey, I know how to do ABC, let me help set this up and do it”; Fighters have been making training videos, Artisans have been doing online classes, service minded people are doing on-line classes, many organizations and groups are doing online meetings, get togethers, and even events! Thank you to everyone that has been pitching in and helping. This is a new and exciting time! In the upcoming weeks (through the end of June) we will be having Court every week! Some weeks we will be working with a Virtual Event that is being held, if there is no Virtual Event we will still have Court. We already have things planned for every Court! We look forward to working with everyone, trying new things, learning, and having fun. In service to the Dream, Jason & Margherita III, King & Queen Ansteorra 
 
Ansteorra! We love traditions, one of those traditions is the love, support, and confidence that is shown when people swear an Oath of Service or Fealty. Only certain people and positions are required to swear an Oath, most of the people that swear an Oath do it because they want to. In order to give people a chance to swear their Oaths we have come up with a plan and a schedule. Starting this coming Saturday, May 16th, we will have a Virtual Royal Court in connection with The Baron & Baroness of NorthKeep. Court will begin at 4pm and will first feature the Oaths of Fealty from the Landed B&Bs of Ansteorra. In the coming weeks we are planning for the following Courts - these may change: 
May 23rd - (Steppes Virtual Event) Knights and Master of Arms that choose to 
May 30th - Laurels, that choose to 
June 6th - (King’s College Virtual Event) Pelicans, that choose to 
June 13th - Masters of Defense, that choose to 
June 20th - White Scarves, that choose to 
 
We are working on plans for more things so stay tuned and watch for news!

All Pairings for initial Rounds will be random drawings by members of the populace. 
 
Round 1 - Best 2 out of 3 - Dane Axe - Maximum Weapon Length of 5’, Single Edge, Butt spikes and back spikes will not be counted. 
Round 2 - Best 2 out 3 - Glave, maximum length 7’ 6”, Butt spikes are allowed. Fighters are also allowed to carry and use a side arm, maximum length of 24” 
Round 3 - Best 2 out of 3 - Great Sword, maximum length 6’, no Butt spikes allowed. 
Round 4 or 5 - Best 2 out of 3, Bring your best. All Rounds and weapons are subject to change at the discretion of the Crown.

Jason and I would like to thank Their Excellencies, [[Beorhlic Folcwineson]] and [[Elisaveta af Isefjord]] for their time and service to the Barony of [[Northkeep]] and Ansteorra. They will be stepping down as Baron and Baroness of Northkeep at their Castellan event on June 26, 2021. We are happy to announce that the next Baron and Baroness of Northkeep will be Lord [[Perrin de Beaujeu]] and Honorable Lady [[Jehanne de Montauban]]. Their Investiture will be at the same Castellan event as the step down of the current Baron and Baroness of Northkeep. We look forward to working with them to continue the growth and prosperity of Northkeep and Ansteorra.

Thank you all who came out to the first in person event at Myrgenfeld Collegium. It was wonderful being able to see people and talk with everyone. We held our Royal Huntsman where Laird/Lady [[Johanna_Buchanan]] did an awesome job running a skillful and fun shoot. Thank you, Jonaya, for all the time/work you put in as Duke Sven Randullsson and Countess Cristyana Lambrecht's Royal Huntsman and for the time as our Royal Huntsman, and we look forward to seeing you at future events. Our new Royal Huntsman is [[ Raulff Smeithberde]] - we look forward to having you with us and working with you for the rest of our Reign! 
 

===June 13, 2021: Queen's Champion===
Yesterday was an amazing day. I want to thank everyone who was part of my Day. I received many gifts, that were appreciated. I was able to talk with each of the fighters/consorts. I was able to watch many amazing fights. I want to thank Hellsgate for putting on a wonderful event. I want to thank the Legion of Swashbucklers for being there for me. The White Scarf and MoDs that were there and spoke with me all day long. Thank you to entourage who kept up with both His Majesty and myself. Thank you to Jason Drysdale for the kind words in court. 
There were many tears shed as we celebrated being back together and getting to pay special tribute to Don Tivar. Though he is gone he will never be forgotten! 
I was happy to see so many fighters doing so well and impressing so many people. Throughout the day I received words of deeds and prowess and got to witness fighters doing their best. Special thanks to Master [[Robin of Gilwell]] who helped with planning things and speaking with me, he fought well and also received the Queen's Blade of Honor, I am proud of what he did and how he represented the community. Congratulations to my new Queen's Champion, Don [[Lorenzo Baglioni d'Aosta]]! I enjoyed watching you fight and I appreciate your willingness to serve!

Greetings Ansteorra: We are excited about our new beginning! When we became Prince and Princess for our wonderful Kingdom we were planning on business as usual and a normal reign and that we would know what we were doing and how to do it . WOW, we were in for a Surprise! We were just like everyone else, we were not sure what to do or how to do it. We have been fortunate as a Kingdom, as Prince and Princess, and now as King and Queen to have so many people all over the Kingdom that want to help. People have stepped up from everywhere saying, “Hey, I know how to do ABC, let me help set this up and do it”; Fighters have been making training videos, Artisans have been doing online classes, service minded people are doing on-line classes, many organizations and groups are doing online meetings, get togethers, and even events! Thank you to everyone that has been pitching in and helping. This is a new and exciting time! In the upcoming weeks (through the end of June) we will be having Court every week! Some weeks we will be working with a Virtual Event that is being held, if there is no Virtual Event we will still have Court. We already have things planned for every Court! Ansteorra! We love traditions, one of those traditions is the love, support, and confidence that is shown when people swear an Oath of Service or Fealty. Only certain people and positions are required to swear an Oath, most of the people that swear an Oath do it because they want to. In order to give people a chance to swear their Oaths we have come up with a plan and a schedule. Starting this coming Saturday, May 16th, we will have a Virtual Royal Court in connection with The Baron & Baroness of NorthKeep. Court will begin at 4pm and will first feature the Oaths of Fealty from the Landed B&Bs of Ansteorra. In the coming weeks we are planning for the following Courts - these may change: 
May 23rd - (Steppes Virtual Event) Knights and Master of Arms that choose to 
May 30th - Laurels, that choose to 
June 6th - (King’s College Virtual Event) Pelicans, that choose to 
June 13th - Masters of Defense, that choose to 
June 20th - White Scarves, that choose to

All Pairings for initial Rounds will be random drawings by members of the populace. 
 
Round 1 - Best 2 out of 3 - Dane Axe - Maximum Weapon Length of 5’, Single Edge, Butt spikes and back spikes will not be counted. 
Round 2 - Best 2 out 3 - Glave, maximum length 7’ 6”, Butt spikes are allowed. Fighters are also allowed to carry and use a side arm, maximum length of 24” 
Round 3 - Best 2 out of 3 - Great Sword, maximum length 6’, no Butt spikes allowed. 
Round 4 or 5 - Best 2 out of 3, Bring your best. All Rounds and weapons are subject to change at the discretion of the Crown.

We are happy to announce that the next Baron and Baroness of Northkeep will be Lord [[Perrin de Beaujeu]] and Honorable Lady [[Jehanne de Montauban]]. Their Investiture will be at the same Castellan event as the step down of the current Baron and Baroness of Northkeep. We look forward to working with them to continue the growth and prosperity of Northkeep and Ansteorra.

Thank you all who came out to the first in person event at Myrgenfeld Collegium. It was wonderful being able to see people and talk with everyone. We held our Royal Huntsman where Laird/Lady [Johanna_Buchanan] did an awesome job running a skillful and fun shoot. Thank you, Jonaya, for all the time/work you put in as Duke Sven Randullsson and Countess Cristyana Lambrecht's Royal Huntsman and for the time as our Royal Huntsman, and we look forward to seeing you at future events. Our new Royal Huntsman is[[ Raulff Smeithberde]] - we look forward to having you with us and working with you for the rest of our Reign! 
 

===June 13, 2021: Queen's Champion===
Yesterday was an amazing day. I want to thank everyone who was part of my Day. I received many gifts, that were appreciated. I was able to talk with each of the fighters/consorts. I was able to watch many amazing fights. I want to thank Hellsgate for putting on a wonderful event. I want to thank the Legion of Swashbucklers for being there for me. The White Scarf and MoDs that were there and spoke with me all day long. Thank you to entourage who kept up with both His Majesty and myself. Thank you to Jason Drysdale for the kind words in court. 
There were many tears shed as we celebrated being back together and getting to pay special tribute to Don Tivar. Though he is gone he will never be forgotten! 
I was happy to see so many fighters doing so well and impressing so many people. Throughout the day I received words of deeds and prowess and got to witness fighters doing their best. Special thanks to Master [[Robin of Gilwell]] who helped with planning things and speaking with me, he fought well and also received the Queen's Blade of Honor, I am proud of what he did and how he represented the community. Congratulations to my new Queen's Champion, Don [[Lorenzo Baglioni d'Aosta]]! I enjoyed watching you fight and I appreciate your willingness to serve!

Per His Highness Sven's announcement on September 26, 2019, the format of his King's Champion is as follows: "Bear Pits consisting of 30 minutes of single sword, then 30 minutes of two weapon, and then 30 minutes of sword and shield. A point will be awarded for each win, you may win up to 5 times in a row before relinquishing the field. Double kills are not re-fought. At the end of the three bear pits, the top eight competitors will enter a standard best two out of three single elimination tourney. The winner of this tourney will be my Kings Champion. If you do not wish to be Kings Champion, you can bow out of the top eight selection process. I would encourage all to test the mettle of those who would vie for it. I would like my champion to be able to attend at least two events a month and Gulf Wars."

Greetings Ansteorra: A chill is in the air and the celebrations of yuletide and Candlemas are upon us. We wish all of Ansteorra seasons greetings and a Happy New Years! In January, We will hold our Crown Tourney event in the Barony of Loch Soilleir where we will welcome our Heirs. For those entering the Crown list, we ask that letters of intent be sent to us. The Kingdom’s Round Table will be held January 18, 2020 and we welcome all to attend to know the business of the Kingdom. Thank you to all Kingdom and local officers for all your hard work over the past year. We also thank, Countess Nicollet Deaville for stepping into the role of acting Kingdom Seneschal and providing excellent service and professionalism. ===February 2020 Black Star===
Greetings Ansteorra: Much has happened during the first month of a new decade. Ansteorra has new Heirs and new Kingdom officers to serve her. But we should not grow complacent. The soft sound of war drums can be heard in the eastern winds, Gulf Wars is coming Ansteorra. Are you preparing? In February, We will hold our Kingdom Arts and Sciences competition where We will select the new Kingdom Artisan and our Gulf Wars A&S competitors. Ansteorra is encouraged to attend this event and bring your best arts and science displays. We also encourage our great Laurels to attend and assist us to this effort. Some administrative business, We are working with our Kingdom Chamberlain and financial committee on the effort to replace the “Early Period” Crowns and Coronets of Ansteorra. These historic pieces are in poor condition. The Kingdom is seeking bids for Crowns that are: 1) are approximately 2.5 to 4 inches at highest point; 2) Golden in color; 3) have at least one, preference for more, Ansteorran Black Stars as prominent elements on the Crowns; 4) the Queen’s Crown should have at least two black Roses; and 5) due to their high use, should be durable. The P&P Coronets should be similar, but smaller versions of the King and Queen Crowns. The overall look of these pieces should be consistent with an “earlier period” style for the Royal and Noble House of Ansteorra. Bids should provide proposed description of pieces, drawings, pricing, and warranty and servicing information at a minimum. Please contact us or the Kingdom Chamberlain for more information. Greetings Ansteorra, His Majesty and I will be holding virtual courts on April 25th and May 2nd. We were greatly sadden by the cancelling of Gulf Wars, Hellsgate, and Elfsea events and have many members of the populace that were going to be honored with awards and elevations to Peerages that we are organizing these virtual events plus our step down and Coronation of TRH on May 9th. Stay tune for more information from Kinddom Seneschal with help from Kingdom Webminister and Social Media Deputy. Thank you, you three and your team for your help.

On this day, Her Royal Majesty, Queen Cristyana, took up the blade at Sable Legionnaire with the proud combined forces of the Northern, Southern, and Central regions. We were graced with her wisdom, her style and her fierce spirit across classes and battles over the course of the day and never did she falter. A delight on the field and off, she was witty and kind in conversation, striving to meet every member of the populace present. And truly she met them, not just exchanging pleasantries but remembering the names of even the humblest of students and fresh faces there. 
 
I was humbled to study at her side and humbled once more to fight at her side. Her Stellar Majesty may have professed to be a new student of the blade, she fought with all the ferocity and vigor of any young Don sworn to her. Radiant and steadfast, she faltered not for cadet nor provost, neither Don nor Maestro. Shield in one hand and rapier in the other, she bore the emblem of the Sable Star into the thick of battle, surely inspiring every fighter on that field. 
 
One particularly thorough attack shattered our line, and when I dashed back to aid our Queen in whatever way I might, I saw her standing there, maintaining our position with no ally in sight but her own fierce determination. In that moment, I was overwhelmed with pride for our Kingdom and Crown, and knew even when the Sable Star stands alone, it stands firm, and it stands true. 
 
While His Royal Majesty may keep his weapons of war and Chivalry, belts and chains and spurs, and may he wear them grandly and well, Her Royal Majesty Cristyana Lambrecht bears within herself and upon her countenance the scholarship, ferocity, determination, and grace that I see in every White Scarf and Master of Defense in this kingdom, and I hope for the honor of once more fighting at her side.

Created by [[Johanna Buchanan]], this German claplock hunting crossbow was based on designs from the late 16th century. It is crafted of cherry wood, with ebony, bone, and yellowheart accents. The cheekpiece and binding block are ambrosia maple. It was crafted in April and May of 2019 and presented to the [[81st Crown]], Vladislav and Margaret, during [[Steppes]] Warlord in May of 2019.

===King's Champion Format===
Per His Highness Sven's announcement on September 26, 2019, the format of his King's Champion is as follows: "Bear Pits consisting of 30 minutes of single sword, then 30 minutes of two weapon, and then 30 minutes of sword and shield. A point will be awarded for each win, you may win up to 5 times in a row before relinquishing the field. Double kills are not re-fought. At the end of the three bear pits, the top eight competitors will enter a standard best two out of three single elimination tourney. The winner of this tourney will be my Kings Champion. If you do not wish to be Kings Champion, you can bow out of the top eight selection process. I would encourage all to test the mettle of those who would vie for it. I would like my champion to be able to attend at least two events a month and Gulf Wars."

Her Majesty requests that competitors submit a letter of intent to compete. These letters are due 2 days before the event (Wednesday, November 6) if submitting by email, and prior to processional if you are submitting in person.

Greetings Ansteorra: Much has happened during the first month of a new decade. Ansteorra has new Heirs and new Kingdom officers to serve her. But we should not grow complacent. The soft sound of war drums can be heard in the eastern winds, Gulf Wars is coming Ansteorra. Are you preparing? In February, We will hold our Kingdom Arts and Sciences competition where We will select the new Kingdom Artisan and our Gulf Wars A&S competitors. Ansteorra is encouraged to attend this event and bring your best arts and science displays. We also encourage our great Laurels to attend and assist us to this effort. Some administrative business, We are working with our Kingdom Chamberlain and financial committee on the effort to replace the “Early Period” Crowns and Coronets of Ansteorra. These historic pieces are in poor condition. The Kingdom is seeking bids for Crowns that are: 1) are approximately 2.5 to 4 inches at highest point; 2) Golden in color; 3) have at least one, preference for more, Ansteorran Black Stars as prominent elements on the Crowns; 4) the Queen’s Crown should have at least two black Roses; and 5) due to their high use, should be durable. The P&P Coronets should be similar, but smaller versions of the King and Queen Crowns. The overall look of these pieces should be consistent with an “earlier period” style for the Royal and Noble House of Ansteorra. Bids should provide proposed description of pieces, drawings, pricing, and warranty and servicing information at a minimum. Please contact us or the Kingdom Chamberlain for more information. Greetings Ansteorra, His Majesty and I will be holding virtual courts on April 25th and May 2nd. We were greatly sadden by the cancelling of Gulf Wars, Hellsgate, and Elfsea events and have many members of the populace that were going to be honored with awards and elevations to Peerages that we are organizing these virtual events plus our step down and Coronation of TRH on May 9th. On this day, Her Royal Majesty, Queen Cristyana, took up the blade at Sable Legionnaire with the proud combined forces of the Northern, Southern, and Central regions. We were graced with her wisdom, her style and her fierce spirit across classes and battles over the course of the day and never did she falter. A delight on the field and off, she was witty and kind in conversation, striving to meet every member of the populace present. And truly she met them, not just exchanging pleasantries but remembering the names of even the humblest of students and fresh faces there. 
 
I was humbled to study at her side and humbled once more to fight at her side. Her Stellar Majesty may have professed to be a new student of the blade, she fought with all the ferocity and vigor of any young Don sworn to her. Radiant and steadfast, she faltered not for cadet nor provost, neither Don nor Maestro. Shield in one hand and rapier in the other, she bore the emblem of the Sable Star into the thick of battle, surely inspiring every fighter on that field. 
 
One particularly thorough attack shattered our line, and when I dashed back to aid our Queen in whatever way I might, I saw her standing there, maintaining our position with no ally in sight but her own fierce determination. In that moment, I was overwhelmed with pride for our Kingdom and Crown, and knew even when the Sable Star stands alone, it stands firm, and it stands true. 
 
While His Royal Majesty may keep his weapons of war and Chivalry, belts and chains and spurs, and may he wear them grandly and well, Her Royal Majesty Cristyana Lambrecht bears within herself and upon her countenance the scholarship, ferocity, determination, and grace that I see in every White Scarf and Master of Defense in this kingdom, and I hope for the honor of once more fighting at her side.

The Sable Shield of Ansteorra is a non-armigerous acknowledgement (not award) that is given to those who have served in the armed forces.

The insignia for the acknowledgement is an unadorned escutcheon, sable. Later iterations have included the insignia of the specific branch of the military the individual served in.

[[Jean Raimbaut]]: "Greetings Ansteorra!!!! I have happy news! This past weekend the Holders of the Sable Shield of Ansteorra held a benefit tournament. We raised money for a charity that helps each branch of service. 54 fighters and archers answered the call and we name the first three '''Champions of the Sable Shield'''. Sir Timo won the Chivalric championship, Cadet Alastar MacRogers won the Rapier championship, Lord Wolfram von Gottfried is the Archery champion! Vivat the first three Sable Shield Champions! Throughout the tournament the branches of service also contested to be the best of Ansteorra. The Sable Shield Holders from each branch did their and their sponsors services proud but at the end of the day the US Army claimed the title. All other things aside I was very proud to host this monumental tournament. The populace of Ansteorra can not be beat. We raised money for excellent organizations for each service. Donation jars were put out for individuals to donate with all the entrance money going to the winning Branch. Without further ado the organizations and the total donations each earned.

"Calling all fellow Sable Shields, if you plan to attend Braggart's War in September. Let it be known that the third annual Sable Shield tournament will be held that weekend. If you would like to be part of the staff, I have vacancies. If you want to fight or sponsor a fighter, rapier or archer we will have a field. For the first time ever, The Sable Shield tourney will have an A&S competition- To enter, be sponsored by a sable shield and a toy donation is requested. The toys will be given to the families of soldiers under care of the Va hospital in San Antonio. My sister was a soldier who lost her battle with cancer during her service. I request the toys for Children who sit and wait while their parent is being treated.
To participate in the tourney, we seek a donation of $5.00 that will be given to a military charity. One for each branch of service. Army has won 2 years for the most donations given.
Each Sable Shield can sponsor a fighter or artisan in each field. We will have donation jars available for those who want to donate. "

The Sable Shields of Ansteorra hosted their 4th Annual Tournament to determine their Champions in Chivalric, Rapier and Archery combat. There were 14 entries into Chivalric, 7 entries into Rapier and 7 entries into Archery. (Side note of thanks to Lady [[Seonaid inghean ui Sionnaigh]] for reaching out to the rapier community to encourage more participants for the rapier tourney.)
* [[Alexis la Bouche]] and [[Oliver the Faithful]] ran the Chivalric Tourney with [[Galen of Bristol]] sponsoring himself (Air Force) winning the Champion Title in Chivalric combat.
* [[Calvin Tittle]] ran the Rapier Tourney with [[Isaac von Basel]], sponsored by [[Chrestien Brulé]] (Army) winning the Champion Title in Rapier combat.
* [[Edward Dubois]] ran the Archery Tourney with [[Johanna Buchanan]], sponsored by [[Edward Dubois]] (Army) winning the Title in Archery.
A total of $233.50 was raised for the Charities chosen which will be distributed according to which Branch of Service the donations were placed. Scrolls were made by [[Valka Ulfmodir]] (Chivalric), [[Silvana Corwin]] (Rapier) and [[Francisca Sastre de Arellano]] (Archery). Prize baskets were generously donated by [[Jean-Michel de Meaux]] with purchased and donated items. The Lyst was run by [[Nicaize Maupetit]] and [[Diane Mallet]].

Ansteorra Gunners Guild

==About the Guild==
The Ansteorra Gunners Guild was founded to promote the education and training of the Ansteorran populace in the safe use of period black powder firearms and their associated consumables (such as gunpowder, match cord, or shot). Membership in the guild is open to all members of the Ansteorran populace who wish to consider themselves members, and can only be revoked for violations of the guild code of conduct.

The guild hosts meetings where members or interested populace can gather to discuss period firearms history, shooting, and other related topics. The guild also hosts periodic range days where members of the populace can have an opportunity to train in the use of live period firearms.

Although the general scope of the guild is pre-1600 firearms, there is some leeway to discuss immediately post-period developments in firearms technology, such as the evolution of the flint-based lock mechanisms that developed immediately following the snaphaunce.

==Guild History==
The Ansteorra Gunners Guild was founded in A.S. 54 (2019) by [[Johanna Buchanan]]. The first official meeting was held at Ansteorra's 40th Year Event, where the initial signatories of the guild charter met. The Guild's charter was signed by Sultan [[Vladislav Strelec]] and Queen [[Margaret ny Connor]] at the same event.

*Guild members will observe all standard rules of firearms handling at all times. Members will not handle firearms until such time as they can receive proper instruction

*Guild members will take the utmost care when handling period firearms, gunpowder, match cord, or other potentially dangerous implements to ensure the safety of themselves, other SCA/Guild members, and the general public at large.

*Guild members will make every effort to abide by local laws, codes, and ordinances regarding the handling and use of firearms, gunpowder, and other potentially dangerous items.

Born in [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stirlingshire Stirlingshire, Scotland] as "Johanna Buchanan," she was born into a family who never really saw the virtue in treating its daughters all that differently from its sons. She was raised with hunting, light military training, and minimal expectations as the eldest daughter of a landed family. When her father was killed by the English at the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Flodden Battle of Flodden] in 1513, she decided to adopt a man's style of dress, rename herself "John," and train full-time as a soldier. Johanna began traveling and eventually made her way down towards France, looking for employers in the ever-boiling conflicts of the time. She fell in with the French during the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_War_of_1521%E2%80%9326 Four Years War], working as a mercenary. Having had extensive contact with the Italians during the Four Years War, Johanna continued her travels south to Italy, eventually finding work with the Florentines as a mercenary, bodyguard, and instructor for their military forces. 
 
Johanna was caught up in the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_League_of_Cognac War of the League of Cognac], fighting primarily under the employ of the Florentines. Her performance in the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Landriano Battle of Landriano] (and reputation that she'd been building up in the region) was sufficiently competent to secure a position as a bodyguard for a Florentine merchant, which put her in the city when the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Florence_(1529%E2%80%9330) Siege of Florence began in 1529]. She assisted in the defense of the city and participated in the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gavinana Battle of Gavinana] that ended the siege. Rumor has it that she fired one of the shots that brought down the Duke of Orange, although it is impossible to verify this. 
 
After escaping Florence, Johanna made her way north to the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Swiss_Confederacy Swiss Confederacy]. In late 1530, she was hired by the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canton_of_Uri Canton of Uri] in central Switzerland to help train their musketeers. She also served as a bodyguard for one of the commanders of the Canton’s military forces up through the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_War_of_Kappel#Battle_of_Kappel Battle of Kappel]. After the battle, Johanna decided to travel back to Scotland to help train local troops for the nobles. 
 
Settled into her new life back in Scotland, Johanna continues to refine her marksmanship through regular training in the musket, as well as with the crossbow and longbow (which they uses for hunting and training purposes). She has taken to designing and building sporting crossbows to provide to the populace, feeling that it is important to continue to refine the marksmanship skills of their people in these uncertain times. While she no longer has to constantly hide who she is to avoid discovery, she often continues to dress in the manner to which she has become accustomed.

Lady Johanna Buchanan (Jonaya Gustafson) is a resident of the Barony of Bryn Gwlad in the Kingdom of Ansteorra. She previously resided in the Barony Beyond the Mountain in the East Kingdom. Jonaya portrays a 1530's Scottish mercenary. She is heavily involved in archery (both target and combat), including researching, designing, and building crossbows from various periods and locations. Jonaya is also involved in black powder shooting and is one of the founding members of the Ansteorra Gunners Guild. 
 
Jonaya is involved in both the target and combat archery communities. In addition to participating in various shoots and competitions, she works to further the archery community through education and service. She is a warranted target and combat archery marshal and archery marshal for the Barony of Bryn Gwlad. She is also involved in providing equipment and training for those interested in learning more about shooting period crossbows. 
 
Jonaya has taught classes on crossbow history/shooting as well as on period black powder weapons.

Per His Highness Sven's announcement on September 26, 2019, the format of his King's Champion is as follows: "Bear Pits consisting of 30 minutes of single sword, then 30 minutes of two weapon, and then 30 minutes of sword and shield. A point will be awarded for each win, you may win up to 5 times in a row before relinquishing the field. Double kills are not re-fought. At the end of the three bear pits, the top eight competitors will enter a standard best two out of three single elimination tourney. The winner of this tourney will be my Kings Champion. If you do not wish to be Kings Champion, you can bow out of the top eight selection process. I would encourage all to test the mettle of those who would vie for it. I would like my champion to be able to attend at least two events a month and Gulf Wars."

Barony Bordermarch is in Beaumont/Port Arthur, Texas and surrounding area. Noted since the 1970's to hold their baronial event [[Bordermarch Autumn Melees]], fondly called [[BAM]], now being called "War of the Rams" [[WoR]] due to Bordermarch's device including a shofar ram's horn and multitudes of visitors from neighboring Gleann Ahbann, whose kingdom device is a ram, come to do friendly battle with Ansteorrans.

Bordermarch became a Shire in 1976 within the "Region of Ansteora." Status for Barony Bordermarch (the fourth oldest barony in Ansteorra, following Stargate, Steppes, and Bjornsborg), was proclaimed by the BoD September 13, 1977, the same date that Ansteorra was proclaimed by the BoD to rise in status to "Principality." == Introduction ==

John Buchanan is a resident of the Barony of Bryn Gwlad in the Kingdom of Ansteorra. He previously resided in the Barony Beyond the Mountain in the East Kingdom. John portrays a 1530's Scottish mercenary.

He is heavily involved in archery, including researching, designing, and building crossbows from various periods and locations. John is also involved in black powder shooting and has had limited involvement with fencing.

== Persona ==

Born in [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stirlingshire Stirlingshire, Scotland], John Buchanan was raised with hunting, light military training, and minimal expectations as the second son of a landed family. When his father was killed by the English at the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Flodden Battle of Flodden] in 1513, he decided to train full-time as a man-at-arms. Began traveling and eventually made his way down towards France and Italy. He fell in with the French during the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_War_of_1521%E2%80%9326 Four Years War], working as a mercenary. Having had extensive contact with the Italians during the Four Years War, John continued his travels south to Italy, eventually finding work with the Florentines as a mercenary, bodyguard, and instructor for their military forces.

John was caught up in the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_League_of_Cognac War of the League of Cognac], fighting primarily under the employ of the Florentines. His performance in the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Landriano Battle of Landriano] (and reputation that he’d been building up in the region) was sufficiently competent to secure a position as a bodyguard for a Florentine merchant, which put him in the city when the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Florence_(1529%E2%80%9330) Siege of Florence began in 1529]. He assisted in the defense of the city and participated in the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gavinana Battle of Gavinana] that ended the siege. Rumor has it that he fired one of the shots that brought down the Duke of Orange, although it is impossible to verify this.

After escaping Florence, John made his way north to the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Swiss_Confederacy Swiss Confederacy]. In late 1530, he was hired by the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canton_of_Uri Canton of Uri] in central Switzerland to help train their musketeers. He also served as a bodyguard for one of the commanders of the Canton’s military forces up through the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_War_of_Kappel#Battle_of_Kappel Battle of Kappel]. After the battle, John decided to travel back to Scotland to help train local troops for the nobles.

Settled into his new life back in Scotland, John continues to refine his marksmanship through regular training in the musket, as well as with the crossbow and longbow (which he uses for hunting and training purposes).
