Centurions of the Sable Star

The Order of the Centurions of the Sable Star is a [[Grant Level]] award given in the Kingdom of [[Ansteorra]] for excellence on the field in the Chivalric arts

==Overview==
There shall exist in Ansteorra an order unto which the Crown shall select persons who have demonstrated all of the following qualities:

* Exceptional leadership, skill and honor in chivalric combat.
* Service to Ansteorra and its people;
* Knowledge of the courtly graces; and
* Obedience to the laws and ideals of Ansteorra and of the Society for Creative Anachronism.

This Order shall be known as the Order of the Centurions of the Sable Star

Companions of the order are entitled place the initials CSS or the word "Centurion" after their names, to be addressed with the title "Centurion", and to wear, either on the right calf or above the left elbow, a ribbon Or edged gules charged with a sable Ansteorran star. (Companions who joined the order prior to September 2002 may choose to wear the original ribbon sable edged Or charged with an Or Ansteorran Star.)

This is the page for the Province of Mooneschadowe located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. This is the only province in Ansteorra as of 2009.

*In September 1978 (A.S. XIII), William Blackfox attended a wargaming convention at OSU and introduced a number of students to the SCA. By April of 1979 (A.S. XIII), the Incipient Shire of Mona Sceaduw was formed.
*By September 1979 (A.S. XIV), Mona Sceaduw was formally recognized as a Shire.
*In January 1981 (A.S. XV), the name '''Mona Sceaduw''' and the device, Sable, in pale a sun eclipsed argent and a laurel wreath, a chief Or, were registered with the College of Heralds.
*In June 1984 (A.S. XIX), our group name was officially changed to '''Mooneschadowe.''' We tried to register the "bullethole" badge but it failed.
*In May 1988 (A.S. XXIII), the Mooneschadowe Militia was formed, and Alexandros Dietrich von Einhornwald was the first Captain.
*In November 1988 (A.S. XXIII) we tried a different concept on the bulltehole badge - failure again.
*In July 1991 (A.S. XXVI), we registered a device change to: Sable, a sun argent, eclipsed sable, and on a chief Or, a laurel wreath sable. At the same time we registered our first badge: (Fieldless) A lion-dragon statant contourny Or.
*In April 1995 (A.S. XXIX), submitted petition to be raised to Baronial status -- was returned at Kingdom. That same month we tried a third time for a bullethole badge -- epic failure.
*In January 1996 (A.S. XXX), we registered our 2nd badge: (Fieldless) A peacock in its pride proper.
*And in March 1996 (A.S. XXX) the Liondragon Guard went to Gulf Wars as a fighting unit for the first time. *And then that September (A.S. XXXI) the Militia was formally disbanded & and the LDG formed with Talen von Marienburg as the first Captain.
*In March 1997 (A.S. XXXI), Mooneschadowe & Northkeep become the premier holders of the King's Battle Ribbon (created by HRM Mahadi I).
*In May 1998 (A.S. XXXIII), HRM Jean Richard gives the King's Battle Ribbon to Mooneschadowe & Northkeep again.
*In March 2005 (A.S. XXXIX), Mooneschadowe was awarded the King's Battle Ribbon.
*In January 2006 (A.S. XL), Mooneschadowe became a Province!
