The hearth crackles merrily, casting dancing shadows across the worn faces of my patrons. In the cozy embrace of the "Bard's Hall Tavern," the ale flows freely, and laughter spills out onto the starlit night. It's a far cry from the cold stone floors and flickering candlelight of the old University in Paris.

The student strike of 1229 feels like a distant echo now. Back then, a misplaced loaf of bread and a spilled drink sparked a riot that left a bitter taste in my mouth. We, the students, brimming with youthful idealism, clashed with the Queen's guards, and dear Jean...well, his absence still leaves a hollow ache.

But life, like a stubborn weed, finds a way to grow through the cracks. Dispersed from the University, I drifted for a while, the pursuit of knowledge a tattered cloak around my shoulders. Then, fate, or perhaps the whims of the wind, led me to the rolling hills near the Barony of Bryn Gwlad.

Starting small, with a coin purse lighter than my heart, I opened this tavern. The "Bard's Hall Tavern" became a haven for weary travelers and a watering hole for local gossip. Slowly, steadily, it thrived. My patrons, a motley crew of knights, farmers, and even the occasional bard, became my family.

Learning, it turns out, was open to more than dusty tomes and stuffy lectures. Running a tavern is a constant lesson in human nature, in the delicate balance of supply and demand. Euclid may not grace my shelves anymore, but life's lessons are a continual education.

Sometimes, I wonder about Paris in the quiet moments between bustling evenings. Did the University ever reopen its doors? Did the Queen ever acknowledge the students' grievances? Perhaps someday, when the roads are clear and my thirst for adventure has been rekindled, I'll return.

But for now, I find contentment in the warmth of the hearth, the clinking of tankards, and the stories that fill the air. The "Bards Hall" may have started as a refuge, but it's become a part of my life, as well as my place at court. Yes, these days, you can find me behind the bar and amongst the esteemed Barons of Ansteorra's Court.

Running a successful tavern and serving on the Court - it's a life far more prosperous than I ever imagined for a former Parisian student. A testament to the fact that even amidst hardship, a well-run tavern, a thirst for knowledge, and a twist of fate can pave the way for a damn good life.

===Thomas Goldweard===

Thomas was almost my twin, save for a shade of difference in our hair and the glint of mischief that seemed permanently etched into his eyes. People often mistook us, a confusion that served him well more often than not. While I was lost in books, Thomas was lost in the vibrant tapestry of London's underbelly.

He was a natural-born con man, his charm as disarming as his wit. He could sweet-talk his way into any situation and out of most. I remember the time he convinced the local baker to give him double the bread allowance, claiming to be me, the baker’s favorite customer. Or the time he’d swapped my Latin textbook for a grimoire, a prank that landed me in hot water with the schoolmaster.

When I left for Paris, I thought I’d escaped his antics. But with his relentless energy and an uncanny knack for survival, Thomas followed me. He turned up on my doorstep, a bedraggled but determined look in his eyes. I couldn’t deny him, not with that familiar glint of mischief in his gaze.

Ansteorra proved to be Thomas's gold mine. The lawless frontier offered ample opportunities for a man of his talents. He quickly found his footing in the underbelly of the Barony. He’d cheat at cards, forge documents with an uncanny precision, and engage in questionable deals with a network of dubious characters, including the infamous Hans Deiter.

I often bailed him out of trouble, a role I’d grown accustomed to. He'd bet on the wrong horse in a jousting tournament, owing a hefty sum to a rather imposing knight. Or the time he’d forged a permit to the royal feast, only to be caught red-handed by the Bryn Gwlad baronial guard.

Despite his flaws, I couldn’t deny a certain affection for my brother. He was a whirlwind, a force of nature, capable of both the most infuriating and endearing acts. And as much as I tried to rein him in, I knew deep down that I wouldn’t have him any other way.

Havarr was born in the mid 1500's as the third son of a wealthy Finnish Kreivi (Equivalent of Count). Being that the titles of his father would not fall to him and knowing that he would never amount to more than a Herra (untitled nobility), he left to sow his own fame. 
 
Havarr has a love of swashbuckling and costume parties and habitually will show up to costumed parties wearing clothes his ancestors might have worn, to duel and participate in Tournaments of the Sword.

====Gulf Wars 2025====
Gulf Wars, SCA is done for this year and what a Gulf Wars it has been. I am not honestly sure what to say about all the awesome that happened this War. 
To start the week TRM chose me to be one of the representatives of Ansteorra in the Rapier Champions War Point. I came out of that match victoriously with, as [[89th Crown|Her Majesty]] stated, the appropriate level of violence (I took his legs and then swept his sword aside and used my dagger to complete the match). 
On Monday, I came in 2nd place in the Everyman Tournament. Then got to lead the Southern units in the Field Battle. Our job was to parry, block, and stay alive. We did so excellently. Special shout out to to [[Marie de Meaux]] and the [[Raven's Fort]] Purple Brigade.
Tuesday was the First Blood tourney and town battle. 
I came once again in 2nd place but was very happy to give out "pedicures" in 7 of my 9 victories. Once again my troops in the town battle did outstanding. We kept the opposing forces on their side of town the whole battle and even managed to get one of their houses a few times. Big shout out to Marie Young for holding the alley and corner so damn well so I could focus on the house. 
Wednesday was the Ansteorran Rose Tournament. Her Grace Fujiwara Tomoe ( Wendey Stohler ) once again sponsored me from afar. Once again I believe I brought honor to her name, making it to the third round taken out by the amazing Bumi Fong. After the tournament the Ansteorran Blades of Merit surrounded TLC Leathercraft/Today's Leather and Chain and presented Redg with The Heart of a Musketeer for his unending service and dedication to the steel weapons community. Then myself and Squire Rafael with the help of a gentle named Ivan went almost undefeated in the Trios Tournament only to be taken out in the semi finals. 
Thursday was the Verona Street Brawl (which is a favorite of mine) and the Ravine. In the Ravine I took command of Central and Southern and we dominated the right side. So many people did amazing I could not tag them all. 
In the Chivalric Ravine my AWESOME Cadet Merewen ( Faith White ) was awarded the Sable Falcon for her Amazing job protecting the Calontir Army with her crossbow. 
Court on Thursday night was something else. I lost my voice cheering in court for all the awesome that there was. This may be slightly out of order. First, my Stargate Chivalric Champion Cousin Rafael was added to the Order of the Blades of Merit. I was honored to provide my garter to him. Then my Norse Brother Sæbjørn Í Eyðigarði was also given the honor of calling himself a Blade of Merit and received my original cloak to wear from Åsa InBlinda. He is the 8th BoM to wear that cloak. 
My other Cadet [[Goldweard]] was called into Court to receive a Scroll from a previous award and then TRM called my Baroness [[Kolfinna inn kyrra Óttarsdóttir]] to talk about his service to the SCA. Then they sprung a double whammy on them by asking the Order of the Pelican into Court and announcing them both as Pelican-Elects. 
The Kings War Banner was given to the Shire of the [[Shadowlands]] for outstanding Chivalric Combat Unit. 
Then the Queen's War Banner was brought out. It was given to Southern Regional Ansteorra with me as their Commander. I gathered as many of my troops as I could and went to get it. While we sat there kneeling in front of Their Majesties as they talked I was told to hand the banner to my unit because they had business for me. They said some awesome things about me and then said I think we will let our Order say the rest. The Order of Defense was called into Court and I said yes when asked if it was my my desire to join the Order. The rest of the night was a blur of emotions for me. I will be sitting Vigil at Commanders Crucible. So many emotions still going.

===Persona History:===

The hearth crackles merrily, casting dancing shadows across the worn faces of my patrons. In the cozy embrace of the "Bard's Hall Tavern," the ale flows freely, and laughter spills out onto the starlit night. It's a far cry from the cold stone floors and flickering candlelight of the old University in Paris.

The student strike of 1229 feels like a distant echo now. Back then, a misplaced loaf of bread and a spilled drink sparked a riot that left a bitter taste in my mouth. We, the students, brimming with youthful idealism, clashed with the Queen's guards, and dear Jean...well, his absence still leaves a hollow ache.

But life, like a stubborn weed, finds a way to grow through the cracks. Dispersed from the University, I drifted for a while, the pursuit of knowledge a tattered cloak around my shoulders. Then, fate, or perhaps the whims of the wind, led me here, to the rolling hills near the Barony of Bryn Gwlad.

Starting small, with a coin purse lighter than my heart, I opened this tavern. The "Bard's Hall Tavern" became a haven for weary travelers and a watering hole for local gossip. Slowly, steadily, it thrived. My patrons, a motley crew of knights, farmers, and even the occasional bard, became my family.

Learning, it turns out, was open to more than dusty tomes and stuffy lectures. Running a tavern is a constant lesson in human nature, in the delicate balance of supply and demand. Euclid may not grace my shelves anymore, but the lessons of life are a constant education.

Sometimes, in the quiet moments between bustling evenings, I wonder about Paris. Did the University ever reopen its doors? Did the Queen ever acknowledge the students' grievances? Perhaps someday, when the roads are clear and my thirst for adventure rekindled, I'll return.

But for now, I find contentment in the warmth of the hearth, the clinking of tankards, and the stories that fill the air. The "Bards Hall" may have started as a refuge, but it's become a cherished part of my life, as cherished as my place at court. Yes, these days, you can find me not just behind the bar but also amongst the esteemed Barons of Ansteorra's Court.

Running a successful tavern and serving on the Court - it's a life far richer than I ever imagined for a former Parisian student. A testament to the fact that even amidst hardship, a well-run tavern, a thirst for knowledge, and a twist of fate can pave the way for a damn good life.
